Did you know that the Dinosaur Toy Blog has a channel on Youtube? Well, it does. I originally launched it two years ago to experiment with video reviews of dinosaur toys, but it has evolved into something slightly more variable. The channel features several types of videos arranged in playlists.

Dinosaur toy collections overviews
In my opinion these are the best videos on the channel because they allow viewers to experience other people’s collections in a way that images alone can’t replicate. When I posted my own collection video I had no idea it would receive a whopping quarter of a million views! Truly shocking. Other Dinosaur Toy Forum members who have shared their collections on the channel are Kayakasaurus, Lanthanotus, Libraraptor, and Patrx. So, many thanks to them! I’m hoping to upload more collections overviews soon, if any other collectors are interested to contribute.

Here’s my own collection video. I’m just about due an update.

Video reviews
We’ll always continue to review figures on the Dinosaur Toy Blog but every now and again it can make a welcome change to experiment with a different format. I started out by talking to the camera, but soon learned that it is easier to record through the viewfinder so I can see what I’m recording. The Youtube channel is more flexible in terms of what we review. So far, we’ve looked at an eclectic mix from dinosaur posters from the 1990s to Walking with Dinosaurs finger puppets…

Dinosaur toy unboxings
Why did I only start to record my dinosaur unboxings in the last few months!? I realise they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but these are some of the most popular videos on the channel, so someone’s obviously interested. The unboxing video with the most views is the first one I posted – an unboxing of Recur figures.

Top 10 videos
Another type of video on the channel is top 10 lists. These lists are generated by polls voted by the Dinosaur Toy Forum community. So far we’ve posted videos of specific dinosaur types; new figures by year; and a top 10 of Carnegie Collection figures to honour the recently discontinued line. The most controversial top 10 seems to be the ‘Top 10 best T. rex dinosaur toys of all time’. It got several dislikes, presumably because viewers disagreed with the results.

There are other videos too, including overviews of past Dinosaur Toy Forum Diorama Contests, and random guest submissions. There are now 30 videos on the channel, but it is early days yet and more videos are planned. So, if you’re willing to put up with my English midlands accent and nasal tone, please check out the channel and let me know what you think in the comments – either here or on the individual Youtube videos. If you do like the channel then please also subscribe, we’d really appreciate it. Oh, and if you’d like to share your own dinosaur toy collection on the channel we’d be delighted to host it. Just drop us an email at [email protected]

  • T-Rex is easily the most recognizable dinosaur and is on the top of every popularity poll around the world. It is by many leaps and bounds, the most produced dinosaur toy, with so many different versions, by many different companies. There is bound to be a few people who do not like the list or even familiar with all the T-Rex’s on the list

  • Strange that the top 10 T. Rex toys video was disliked so much. I agreed whole heartedly with it.
