Ceratosaurus (DinoWaurs Survival)

Once again, I am going to dive into the world of blind bag dinosaur figures, this time with a Theropod from the Jurassic of the Morrison Formation: Ceratosaurus. This meat eater was famed for its distinctive nasal horn, which gave images of battling the other Theropods (and indeed, other Ceratosaurs), though is now considered to be more for display than headbutting. Still, it was enough to earn it a place in the DinoWaurs Survival line, so let’s take a look!

As with the other figures in the DinoWaurs line, Ceratosaurus is largely a single colour, grey in this case (though the shade may vary between figures), with great shading for wrinkling in the skin and a big red tongue. It measures 4.5” long and 1.4” from foot to the top of the neck, so better with smaller lines. The pose is quite dramatic, turning to attack a rival or prey. This looks especially good when you have a pair, one of the few times I’m happy to have duplicates.

Now to accuracy. Bit of a mixed bag here, as while there are some good points, like the placement of osteoderms, right nasal horn placement and a right sized tail and body, others are quite wrong. The skull and arms are too long, and the toes are too uniform and small, which can make the figure hard to stand. Also, while the skull features raised sections over their eyes, here they are overdone, almost looking like more horns.

This is, once again, a very mixed bag. While it has some nice features, there are glaring inaccuracies. If you want a small Ceratosaurus, or wish to get a full collection of DinoWaurs line, it’s worth a pick up, if not, you won’t miss anything by skipping it.
