Compsognathus (Dinowaurs Survival)

Greetings Dinowaurriors! For a dinosaur made popular by the Jurassic Park franchise, appearing in several films and having one of the most gruesome entries in the book series, it’s odd that Compsognathus hasn’t had as many figures as one may suspect. A few of the big names have done a rendition, and it is, of course, a staple of Jurassic Park and World lines, but not as many as co-stars Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus. But given the things it does in the films, it seems DinoWaurs jumped on the opportunity to use this little terror from the Solnhofen Limestone.

As we have come to expect, the figure is a singular grey, with shading and a little paint in the mouth. Boring, but expected at this point. Also to be expected is the small size, at 3.1″ long and 1″ high. Small, but for a species that only reached 1m in length, this works quite well with bigger lines. The pose is fairly dynamic, as if hunting. Works well with multiple, like a pack of them, hunting for prey.

Now to accuracy. This figure isn’t too bad, with decent limb lengths, a good sized tail and an accurate body shape. If I were to pick out inaccuracies, it would be the neck being a tad short, the kinks in the tail (as I question if it could do that) and the skull being a bit off in terms of shape. The hands just avoid being pronated, so that’s a plus at least.

Despite the inaccuracies, I do like this little figure. A little species from a little line works better with larger scale lines, fitting in better than figure from other lines that cause Compsognathus to be practically gigantic. I think this is worth finding, either via blind bags or loose figures. Happy Hunting!
