I had noticed the other toy lines all seem to have their own thread or place where you can reference the figures, wether Battat, invictas, or Carnegie, but I did not see a thread aimed at referencing or showing the various Dinotales line by Kaiyodo. I thought to ask if anyone might be able to either aim me somewhere that would simplify collecting the line or point me at a thread for the pieces so I have some idea what I am looking at ?
If there isnt one and someone would like to add to this one and give me some help, I would be appreciative, thanks.

They aren't labelled or sorted by number, but it gives the ranges (the last one came out in about 2006)

That helps alot, and gives me an idea how they look . Is there anyone that has the names for the pieces and can determine which ones were special editions or short prints etc?I had understood each series had a few chase figures?

Series 1-4 had chase figures, the later series did not (instead having each figure in two colours).

This of course does not allow for things like special magazine editions (white Allosaurus, Brown Seismosaurus), Dino Expo sets, etc. And some chase figures have more than 1 colour--like the 3 Siamotyrannus from S1.2 (I have two--and there is a 4th Magazine colour!). And then there are special museum ones (Gashapons, from vending machines) and museum ones (I only have the Arsinoithere skull from that one).

I also forgot about the JP Dinotales set--more pre-existing figures with different colours yet again (they're in the 'various' photos).

At some point I will label the figures I have pictured.

Fortunately/unfortunately, it appears Kaiyodo has currently gotten out of the paleo-figures game.  They are still active with marine figures, meant for the many aquaria throughout Japan. They don't even make the Dino Expo figures anymore (those have been either Capcom or Tomy lately--anyone know what the 2012 offerings are yet?).

Does anyone have the Expo figure Psittacosaurus so they can show it ? I keep wondering what it looks like since the animal was overlooked entirely in the basic set.

Thanks for showing me, I appreciate your constant help and effort . I keep seeing that little fellow up for sale on Ebay and wondered what the fuss was all about.

things like special magazine editions (white Allosaurus,

Is that this one?:

Or is there another white Allosaurus I don't know about? The various special, chase and expo repaints make it a hard to get a comprehensive overview of the full Kaiyodo line-up of dinosaur figures.

Yes, that is the one. The original S2 one is green.

How rare is it compared to the regular Kaiyodo S2 Allosaurus? I still haven't got the latter, but I got two white ones. And contrary to other special figures, it doesn't say 'sp' on the underside of its base, so I always assumed it was just a regular colour variation.

In theory the green one should be more common, although I recall at least one seller that had several of the whites for low prices for quite a while (white T.rex too).

As for the numbering--if the figure is a special-only, like the Tuatara or Siamotyrannus, there will be a SP.  If it is a repaint, they often leave the number alone in the mold. BUT--if they did a resculpt or changed the pieces (like S1v2) the number has a . after it.

Although I haven't looked super closely. I should check and get back to y'all on that.

It says Kaiyodo 025. on mine.

Like I said, at some point I'll check--but the '.' may indicate the special edition number.

Hey all. I've been seeing pics on eBay of these dinosaurs titled dinotales. They look really nice. Anyways, there seems to be quite a few and I was wondering if anyone here has info on them, such as, how many? How are they detailed wise? One company makes them all? Are they still being made? Can I find a complete listing? Any cheaper way than eBay? Any info would be great before I jump in. Thanks in advance.

I don't own any, but I've always heard that they're very nice, small, but very nice.
