I recently started making dioramas. I have always loved dinosaurs and I used to build miniature worlds for my Carnegie and Chinasaurs as a kid. The something happened and I stopped thinking about them, stopped collecting them and sold most of my collection. (Something I now regret!)

It wasn't until I got children of my own that I got interested again. Almost twenty years had passed and a lot had happened since then in the dinosaurs front. I bought my first Papo T-Rex in 2010. And I was completely bewildered by the improvement in quality! I had to get back to business!

This year I made my first dinosaur sculpture. It was a Stegosaurus which I made for my son. I used something called Super Sculpey I found in a local hobby store. It's quite convenient for making all sorts of thing because you can dry it up in your oven.

The second sculpture I made was a Parasaurolophus. I wasn't very happy with it so I had to try again.

The result was a jungle diorama with a lost temple and a terrifying Giganotosaurus carolinii. I also made small figures presenting my kids. They're treasure hunting. The treasure chest can be seen in front of the temple.

I'm currently looking for inspiration (and the time!) to produce more dioramas. This one sits on our bookshelf in our bedroom. There are still two more shelves reserved for dioramas. I'm thinking about an underwater scene as well as a something related to Jurassic Park but haven't decided yet. We'll see!

Congratulations for your dioramas andd sculpts friend  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Concavenator

Nice!I especially love the Giganotosaurus   :)

Federreptil

A very sublime combination of moulded landscape and painted extension. Without the top view of your last picture it is not so clear where is the borderline. Very clever done. I think many kids would wish a dad who can built his own dinosaurs.

Ikessauro

I like your work a lot. The painted background blends really well with the diorama itself. The models are quite good too!

Bokisaurus

Impressive work, love the  figures. ;)

Georassic

Great work! The photos have a real jungle feel to them.

Dinomike

Something I made for my son. He asked for Superman Dinosaur and I thought Triceratops would be a good choice since, well, Trike's known to fight against T-Rex and all. My wife made the cape shown in the pictures. The coloration was inspired by Michael Trcic's Trike.

Digging deeper into the forum always pays. I admit I see your thread for the very first time and I am stunned by all this detail and good ideas, I sometimes tried to make some dioramas for myself, but it never really worked out as well as I wanted...

Now that the poll for the 2014 Diorama Contest is over I can post making-of pictures of my entry. I found it important to produce everything from scratch and use NO Photoshop. So nothing in my entry number 28 The Last Supper has been Photoshopped. The asteroid is actually a flashlight :D
