i wonder if that TOMY recast Styracosaurus has teeth like the original FameMaster...
(i have all the original painted FM so these TOMY recasts are easy pass)

My mistake, I saw these on a page with a bunch of Takara Tomy gashapon releases (extant animals), and I thought these were from them as well. I don't think that's true, however. Was the sauropod produced by Fame Master? I looked through a bunch of photos of FameMaster puzzles just now and I didn't see one with that particular stance (or any labeled Ampelosaurus).

im curious why the ad is in Japanese though? are the FM monochromatic puzzles just being sold through a Japanese seller or recast by a Japanese company?

If it is not Tomy it is probably one of the many, many recasts of those figures, usually sold under generic names. I know that something similar happened to the Megabloks Plasma Dinosaurs.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

It is indeed:

Except that they called it a Diplodocus at the time. And it appears reversed. There are a lot of discontinued FameMaster puzzles. And a lot of variant recasts.

There are many copies...even in Japan.

I really think we need to make a "Common Re-Cast" thread at one point.

Oh, now that I see it in non not-camera-friendly red hue... looks like I can save my money. How is that an Ampelosaurus?

Thanks, Sean! I hadn't seen that one before. It definitely does not look like an Ampelosaurus. I sometimes see Papo Brachiosaurus knockoffs on eBay labeled "Sauroposeidon." I guess this is a similar sort of situation.

That at least sounds more accurate than calling the Carnegie Brachiosaurus ( second sculpt ) Tanystropheus.

I bought a 3-pack of these Takara Tomy Ania Animals Dinosaurs at Bic Camera in Japan last week. It has a red repainted version of the T-Rex, a green Velociraptor, and a very Jurassic World looking blue Mosasaurus. These are quite fun. I like how they integrated the articulation. I'd love to complete the set one day.
