I found out about a very interesting story of a fossil made entirely of GOLD... let's see if that's something that can actually happen!

Ever wanted to know exactly why dinosaurs were clappers, not slappers? Rather than just accepting the premise outright?

Oculudentavis is a new mummified fossil found preserved in amber dating back to the Cretaceous period of Myanmar. Unfortunately this also comes with a terrible price as the mines which produce amber in Myanmar are worked by teenage slaves at risk of workplace injury or from the armed conflict going on in the country. Should we even give these specimens the light of day?

I hate that a science like Paleontology is always tainted by poor figures and shady  dealings. Such a shame.

Happy FossilFriday!, today I discuss a massive claw that was found in the South American deserts in the 90s. Just exactly what was Megaraptor ?!

A pterosaur was found in the desert sandstones of Utah, what it represents is something unique in the evolution of desert Pterosaurs.

The single largest species of Dicynodonts was described last year. It wasn't altogether extraordinary for weird crests, lumps, spines, or claws, but what it means by its sheer size is quite important for the evolution of mammals and dinosaurs.

The start to the journey through the world of prehistoric colors starts with melanin, how it's used, who uses it, and why we don't have color changing skin.

Spinosaurus continues to provide ample source for discussion on the anatomy of this mysterious creature. Since the last time I talked about the sail back, more ideas have been thrown about as to how this critter skittered.

I've always wanted to take a full in-depth deep dive into the world of color. How should we color our dinosaur reconstructions? What was their world like, and how did they see it? This is the second episode in a series in which I will first explore each and every mechanism used by modern birds, and those few confirmed mechanisms used by extinct non-avian dinosaurs. This episode goes over the mechanism called Structural Color, which results in the strong reflective surfaces of many modern animals.

Simosuchus was one of the only fully herbivorous crocodile. Though it wasn't a real croc! Madagascar was a really weird place during the cretaceous.

A newly described proto-dino-pterosaur provides new insights into the evolution of both dinosaurs and pterosaurs. The new critter comes from the scorched lands of Madagascan deserts and hopped around on two springy legs to catch hard-shelled insects. What a Miscreant!
