The tyrannosaurids continue! Here we have Wally the PNSO Albertosaurus, sculpted in a dynamic running pose. Looks pretty impressive, although I have to wonder how well he can stand without the aid of a support rod.

In 1965, during part of a Polish-Mongolian expedition, a pair of giant enigmatic arms were discovered. The owner of these arms was then deemed Deinocheirus, meaning “terrible hand.” It wouldn’t be until 2014, nearly 50 years after the “terrible hand” was initially discovered when new, more complete material was described, showing the species was stranger than what had previously been envisioned for it.

Several other companies have made Mapusaurus figures before, including Bandai, Playmates, and CollectA. So far, however, we’ve only reviewed CollectA’s four (!!!) versions on the blog. A brief re-introduction might be useful, then: Mapusaurus hails from the Huincul Formation (English approximation: “ween-COOL”) in Argentina, just like its recently described relative Meraxes and the famous Argentinosaurus.

It’s Wilson again! No, wait, that’s not Wilson, it’s Cameron! Yes, it’s a brand new sovereign striding on the stage, and he looks to be PNSO’s best Tyrannosaurus rex to date! Even comes with what appears to be a replica of the skull of Sue!

PNSO’s third reveal for 2023 is a third giant carcharodontosaur: Mila the Mapusaurus. While it is hoped that the next reveal will be a prehistoric animal from a different branch of the vast evolutionary hedge, there can be no doubt that Mila looks smashing.

PNSO’s second reveal for the year is Mungo the Meraxes! This giant carcharodontosaur was only described in 2022, so props to PNSO for being on top of the latest paleontology news. The grey colour scheme is pretty cool too, a welcome change from previous PNSO theropods.
