Collection Update 2: I will be ordering a bunch of safari figures along with the PNSO Microraptor. New shelf and desk for display (My current shelves are going to be crowded soon). I also built a small "cage" for dinosaur photography. It should help me with some of the JP shots I want to take. Small update but I think it is worth sharing.

Responding to the question in your new thread title, I like to sort by scale and then by period. So I'll have all the figures that are around 1:12 scale on one shelf, with Cambrian stuff at the left edge and other periods following as you go right. But lots of people prefer to sort by company or by taxonomic group. There's no wrong way!

Quote from: Lynx on January 27, 2021, 11:23:48 PMI did not find a Safari Ltd general discussion so I'll just ask here: This year is going to be my Safari year for collecting due to their low prices. Anyone have some suggestions on what to get?

Well, I certainly was not lying about it being the year of Safari. Now it takes up most of my collection. Whoops.

Updated the entire thread, pictures coming now that the shelves have been fixed up, cleaned, and ready for display!

Quite proud of how far I have come, and how many things I was able to remove from the wishlist now  ;D

My wallet is suffering to a new degree, but I won't complain.

Expect some Battat and CollectA soon..

Among major manufacturers, Safari is the largest contributor to my collection as well. (I have more Life game miniatures, but those are sort of a separate category.) Looking forward to seeing photos!

Fingers crossed the images work. If anyone knows a free image hoster, please tell me!

Here are the main shelves, sorry that the pictures aren't the best. I'll get some higher quality ones soon enough! Some stuff is off the shelves at the moment as well.

Also, while I cannot see your images on the forum, I opened them externally and I much say, I am impressed.

Great collection right there! You are super lucky to have those Carnegie too, they've become so coveted now...

Halichoeres

Those are definitely some nice Carnegies. Plenty of other good stuff too, from BotM to Safari to the PNSO Pinacosaurus. Is that a cardinal at the lower right?

Yes! There are a bunch of birds hidden around the shelves, mainly near feathered dinosaurs.

Hey, avatar_Lynx @Lynx , could you tell me where you got those transparent plastic wall shelves? I've been looking for a similar product for a while now.

Mhm! I bought two packs of this, which combine to be one larger shelf. https://www.amazon.com/LikeU-Floating-Detachable-Entryway-Bathroom/dp/B098372GPT/ref=sr_1_33?crid=25K9UYD6AA74J&keywords=plastic+wall+hanging+shelves&qid=1667823897&sprefix=plastic%2520wall%2520hanging%2520shelves%2Caps%2C82&sr=8-33

Lovely collection you have here. I also really like those shelves.

I always regret missing out on that Schleich Psittacosaurus. It is a gem!

Ludodactylus

Really beautiful collection, and I like the layout with the extant birds scattered throughout.
"The most popular exhibits in any natural history museum are, without doubt, the dinosaurs. These creatures' popularity grows each year, partly because of the recent resurgence of dinosaur movies, but also because a skeleton of a full-sized Tyrannosaurus rex still has the ability, even 65 million years after its death, to chill us to the bone." - Ray Harryhausen

A handsome collection. I liked how the birds were hiding away!
