Showanna Studio normally only makes large expensive custompainted models but now they try to enter the lower budget smaller figure market with 1/35 Scotty T.rex. (My 1/35 fav Rex is still Cameron PNSO)

The figure has received criticism for its proportions. The chest is a bit short, the torso is a bit short, and the hips are too narrow. In this respect, it reminds me a lot of my large Sideshow Rex. Nevertheless, unlike all the other current, more accurate figures, it has more of an individual character and still looks really cool. Price-wise, it would be the same or cheaper than a PNSO figure without import costs: $69.
I'm glad to have it now, as it's completely different. I especially like the "lose, partial" lips that only partially cover the teeth and represent the real overbite of the T. rex skull.

I'm actually against the completely closed lizard lips of the newer figures...
It's anatomically incompatible with the original skulls.

Here's a good video about it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WUbLBTm0U4&t=277s

I can't help but think about a character of the French comic Asterix (Acidenitrix, the herring) each time I see the Showanna's rex :

There is something similar in the expression of their eyes^^

I love this T. rex figure. I find it charming, strangely enough. There is no issue with the lips, since that has not been proven wrong (or right, for that matter), so that doesn't bother me at all — I very much like it on this figure, actually. Anyway, I might get it.

I was really pleased with mine , despite the minor issues. A really fine first release. Go for it!

Actually the eyes are very tiny and fine. I planned to repaint them but now in real life they look good. Sotty has a nasty look... the prey is in focus.

I just did  :*D Tyrannosaurus rex is apparently my favourite dinosaur, boringly(?) enough — I never get bored of yet another beautiful rendition of that animal.

You're not alone. My next focus is the Evolution rex by ED.

I think that Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and Stegosaurus each hold collecting opportunities rarely afforded animals, let alone dinosaurs. With any one of them a collector can track the evolution of the the scientific understanding of dinosaurs, the stylistic presentation of dinosaurs, and the advance of toy industry technology over the last 70+ years.

There's a lot of collecting, and a lot of dinosaur and toy history between the 1959 Marx Tyrannosaurus, or the 1964 Sinclair Mold-A-Rama Tyrannosaurus and the Beasts Of The Mesozoic super-articulated Tyrannosaurus...
