Giganotosaurus vs Gigantopithecus

Giga finds itself in a cool rainforest of southeast Asia, a portal closing behind it. A series of hoots and screams startle it as a large troupe of red-furred Gigantopithecus scatter, the females scooping up the younger ones as they seek refuge in the thicker parts of the jungle. The alpha male, 'Giganto', along with lesser males beat their chests and bare their bamboo-chomping fangs at the scaly behemoth, all standing erect at over 2 meters tall. The sauriscian tilts its head to the side as it presses forward, Giga's nares taking in the foreign scents, and in particular the musky, putrid smell of the apes. Snorting with a shaking of its snout, Giga hisses as it presses forward with its head parallel to the ground and held at a lower elevation, jaws opening to feed on the novel prey. One of the crimson primates hurls a fallen tree branch, smacking the saurian to the side of its raised lacrimal crests, forcing the reptile to flinch before lunging at the lesser male with its burst of speed that would outpace other large predators from its era. Fearfully hateful calls of Giganto and his subordinate male compatriots storm the anachronistic beast's side while the endangered male retreats with his frightened yowls. Eyes on the lesser male, Giga closes in only to have his foot lose balance mid-run and force an emergency shuffle. Looking back with a reverberating bellow its crocodilian cousins shared, Giga bears witness to the strange shaggy synapsids stradling its trunk-thick legs, wincing with a hiss as Giganto bites into its calf and others into the tendons in the ankle. Stumbling, snarling an airy sound reminiscent of the serpents of this time period, Giga dances a multi-partnered Watusi in its vain attempts to kick off or stomp the annoying mammals. Giganto hoots wrathfully as he manages to snap a vital piece of tissue, forcing the waltzing archosaur to tumble to its side, pinning an unfortunate lesser male under its injured scaly shin as it kicks its bleeding leg painfully with its good leg in a futile attempt to right itself to leave. The lesser males and Giganto keep their distance while watching their troupe-mate struggle from the thousands of kilograms' worth of flesh and scale slowly crushing its legs while struggling. Running to the three-toed feet, Giganto circles to the rear of the heels to grip the giant carnosaur's rear thigh, his herculean strength managing to pull up the South American terror of the past just enough that the flailing theropod legs are no longer a threat to the males. The lessers grab their comrade and drag his downed body from under the scute-covered titan just before Giganto's epic strength gives out and the monstrosity collapses back onto its injured leg. With a bitter shriek Giganto and company fall back, helping their still shaken and hurt friend into the safer, dense forest, periodically looking back to make sure the devil-beast has not been able to chase after them. Giga gasps, panting as it attempts to roll over its back to the good leg's side. Struggling, the once king of South America manages to get to its feet, limping in excruciating pain as it hobbles off to distance itself from the hairy savages.

Off to the side in a set of bushes, a pair of dark eyes watches in fearful silence, wiping the sweat off its hairless, pronounced brow as the lone hominin takes in the display he has witnessed.  When the area is calm and devoid of either giants, the hunter hurries back to retell his clan of the mighty fight between a great lizard and the local giant apes, a tale that would be lost to the ages only to return in its distant cousins' imaginations hundreds of millennia later by pure chance, manifesting in not one, but several epic motion picture scenes that would enthrall millions of their kind.
