Trivia: Rhedosaurus & STAR TREK

TRIVIA---character actor Lawrence Monntaigne is best known to sci fi fans as appearing on STAR TREK as Romulan Sub-Commander Decius in "Balance of Terror" and Vulcan Stonn in "Amok Time". When Leonard Nimoy was possibly leaving STAR TREK to co-star in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, Montaigne was the lead candidate to replace him as Spock.
Ironically, Montaigne's first acting role was in the Ray Harryhausen's classic sci fi movie THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS in which Montaigne played a soldier battling the Rhedosaurus.
Montaigne's favorite role was Haynes "Diversions" in THE GREAT ESCAPE.

Trivia: Mark Lenard was the first (maybe only?) person to play as all three major alien races: as a Romulan commander in the original series, as a Klingon captain in "Star Trek: the Motion Picture", and as Spock's father, Sarek, throughout the original series, several of the original films and in the series "Star Trek: the Next Generation".
