I wonder if the way people find us has changed in recent years, as search engine algorithms increasingly focus on sponsored results and sites that sell stuff.

Newbies, what's the story?

I selected "Other" as personally, searching for a specific toy/model at the time privided me recommendations for this forum.

Unless I am alone in this regards, I think the option "recommended search results based on searching via models/toys" should be available. Unless this corresponds to " Directly via a search engine" which I considered to be someone who searched directly for the forum.

Yeah, the "Directly via a search engine" option is equivalent to "results based on searching via models/toys".

I had to put 'other' because honestly I don't remember. I was part of V1 early on. I think the first forum I was part of was Laughing Giraffe and I probably learned about DTF from that forum. I wasn't collecting dinosaurs, but at the time the DTF had a board for extant animals.

I left it when the ATF was formed and only came around periodically for extinct arthropods. I came back more frequently in 2019 when I started collecting prehistoric non-arthropods.

Lol on my end, I was looking for information about a paper and came across a link to DTF website, on the 3rd or 4th page of Google search <:j

I found it to be a friendly place, full of interesting threads and good discussions  ;)

The "Dinosaurs & Paleontology" section showing its worth!

I see what you did there.

I found it by googling a specific Spinosaurus toy and ending up on the blog. I then noticed I could filter for Spinosaurus and read all the entries. It helped me making some decisions.
Later, someone suggested to me to buy figures at Lana Time Shop and when I googled whether that is a trustworthy seller, I ended up on this forum again.
I was a silent reader for a bit until I registered.

I believe I had originally heard about the forum on the channel Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong, which I was quite invested in during the height of the pandemic. I didn't look too much into it at that point though.

It was this year when my interest was renewed in paleontology in plastic form, thanks to a Happy Meal promotion that finally hit my country last month. In the hopes of building out a proper collection of the genera I hold dearest in my heart, I rediscovered the blog and its incredible filtering system, and alongside it the forum. After seeing board after board dry up in the past decade, it blew my mind that there was one still as active as the Dinosaur Toy Forum. I had to get in on it!

So basically via search engine, as I found the DTB and DTF from the same query.
