Before this incident --> http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=2134.0, I'd already finished repainting some other chinasaurs, and also modded my Papo Spinosaurus to make it a tad more accurate. Now that I'm over my busy patch I thought you might like to see them. I'm no good putting pictures on this site, so I might as well link to my blog where you can also read a bit about how they were created.

(Oh, and don't hesitate to become a regular visitor and maybe even watch it. My blog could do with more love hint hint...) <-- *blatant self-advertising*

I'm thinking of doing commissions if I can get organised enough... :P

Hi, nice work! I like the Euoplocephalus best, and must say that I find your "slit eyes" quite characterful. No one can really prove you wrong about that anyway, as far as dinosaur colours and soft tissues go it's all guess work and speculation. I wonder if you'll try your hand on customising another Papo? It's a rich field my friend  :)

By the way, you mention a problem with "sticky" paint that you hoped to resolve with a clear spray coating. I'm curious as to how that worked out for you?

Cheers, John.

Thanks for looking!

I actually haven't got the clear spray yet, but hopefully I will soon and then we shall see ;)

Great work !!
I really like the euplocephalus and the protoceratops . they are the most realistic paintjob.

Thank you my friend! It's great to have feedback, and also to know people are actually looking ;)

Now with conveniently inserted pictures thanks to my brand-new Photobucket account!

The first of these repaints I did was a chinasaur that was actually a reasonably accurate Protoceratops. I picked her up in a museum shop. Yes, I gave er slit pupils. I'll probably change that since Protoceratops was probably cathemeral - so round pupils would have suited its life style better IMO. Stupidly I forgot to take a 'before' picture for comparison :P

Next up, chinasaur labelled 'Tyrannosaurus rex' on its belly. I've had him since I was a kid, although I was never that fond of him (but then I did have an entire army of dinosaurs, only some of which escaped the charity shops because as a teenager I stupidly thought I'd grown out of them :(). His leg was on its way to coming off so I fixed it with craft glue and milliput before I started painting - that's the white bit in the picture.

He was pretty scrawny for a 'Rex IMO, so I decided he was actually an Albertosaurus. I chose this over Gorgosaurus because I already had my Carnegie Alby, so now I have the beginnings of a 'gang'. Even then he's a bit leggy, so I think of him as a youngster. I added the little bosses over his eyes with milliput.

Yes, he is a tripod, but I rationalise that by thinking of him as rearing up to catch a scent or perhaps because he's just seen lunch ;)

"Mmm, is that an injured Edmontosaurus I see...? Yes, yes it is!"

Now he's got the colour scheme I thought up, I actually really like him, wonky leg, painted-on teeth, tripod pose and all... :)

Lastly in this batch, a chinasaur that I bought new from my local Shelter shop (which sells quite a lot of stuff like that - bubble mixture, beach buckets, bouncy balls etc etc...). These guys were all horrors - there was literally a Pachycephalosaurus with a mouthful of Theropod teeth! - but this one was recognisably a Euoplocephalus.

Here she is after repainting:

"Omnomnomnom..."

More later~

Here's the stages of the Spinosaurus :) I know some people here don't like the paint job but I actually do and I didn't think I could possibly match up to Papo. So I just tried to blend in the areas I'd modded. I wasn't confident enough to change the lower jaw and nostrils, so he's still not perfect, but he's better than he was. I'm also thinking of changing my red display colours a bit - most of my personal customs will always be works in progress!

As I say, I'm thinking about taking commissions... that is if you guys think I'm good enough :P
