Giganotosaurus Figure

I took a visit to the Cabazon Dinosaurs today and in the Dippy gift shop I saw a Giganotosaurus Figure.
It unfortunately seemed to be a knock-off, so I looked for it online, and found this, which is basically the same thing:

It seems to be based off of this reference:

If anyone has any information on this, I'd love to know. I really want to attempt a repaint on it.
The fleshy undertones give it a "naked" appearance.

I believe that Giganotosaurus toy is made by Lontic.

@TyrantQueen Thank you! It does seem that way. A bunch of the figures for sale looked like these.

@Loon! Thank you for the link!!!! I think I may have to buy them there since the package deal was over $30 at the Cabazon store.  :o
Have you grabbed any of them as of yet?

Loon

No, not yet. But I plan on picking up a few eventually, since those DK models are so nostalgic to me.

Simon

I loved that DK Giganotosaur figure so much, I even created a custom of it (about 24" long) several years ago ...

Simon, wait, that's absolutely gorgeous! You sculpted it and everything?!
I really do wish this figure I posted was larger though. It seemed to be right around 1:45 - 1:50

As soon as I saw the figure, I knew I really had to grab it.
I was thinking of basing one of the repaints off the WWD rendition.

Simon

I didn't sculpt it exactly - I "kitbashed" it from a couple of different toys/model kits ... I did sculpt some small areas with putty ...

crap i had that exact picture giganotosaurus but it came in an anatomy T Rex set that said it was a Rex but i saw it and it was the same extremely detailed like the PIC not the toy giganotosaurus i wish i had pictures of it same pose and detail sadly it was when i was very little. But if a t Rex anatomy set rings any bell for anyone looking for this in real life form look up all the anatomical Rex kits

Tedco Toys also sells a lot of the figures in this series, but I don't see the Giga. They're pretty expensive though; you might be better off with aliexpress. http://www.tedcotoys.com/c/dinosaurs

FWIW, Lontic is just one of the US distributors, but I believe the actual manufacturer is called Xidi.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Great job Simon! One of the best Giganotosaurs I've seen. Still waiting to see what Collecta or Papo might (eventually) do with this species and I'd especially like to see one from Eofauna - when they finally get around to some Dinosaurs. I've had the Lontic / Xidi version for a couple of years now and despite its shortcomings there's something about it that appeals, the head mostly.

@Philsauria I am wholeheartedly waiting as well. Mojo's doesn't look too bad. With a repaint it might be beautiful. One can make an argument that Schleich's renditions are not even Gig's.
As for the Lontic, the skull sculpt is beautiful. The large but slim profile looks attractive.

Yes, that is the figure that provided the body, arms and neck/head  ... but the head had to be made much narrower and also longer ... the legs and tail were from another kit ... you can see all my customs in my web gallery - link below my signature page ... best viewed on a DESKTOP or LAPTOP ...
