Newly published research about "the bull-sized cousin of the guinea pig".

Clearly a R.O.U.S ( Rodent of unusual size ). I remember seeing it on the cover of a Prehistoric Times magazine. The result of the research is not exactly surprising. Even if big, it is still a rodent.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Sadly, I doubt this particular megafauna will ever receive a toy.

Ultimately it is mostly "just" a big capybara. I guess Capybara toys, if they exist, would be too small...

I wonder though how said rodent manages to survive with competition from Notoungulates sharing similar niches. While interesting though, it, like most other "obscure" finds won't get as much attention as other species. Prehistoric mammals/pre-dinosaurs are notable though, for lacking toys and media compared to mesozoic animals.

The reconstruction in the linked article doesn't look anything like a capybara (or at least, it looks like a capybara on steroids!), but as only the skull has been found it is speculative after all. I guess a capybara toy might work with modding. A quick internet search revealed that Wild Safari did a Capybara figure, but it seems to have been retired. :(

...And yes, capybaras are ridiculously adorable as only oversized guinea pigs can be! ;)
