I do a lot of filming with my dinosaurs outside. But I was wondering which ones are waterproof painted and which ones aren't....for example, are collectas waterproofed? I'm hesitant to introduce my mosasaurus to it's habitat, because it is already considerably smudged when I got it:

I'd guess all of them are waterproof when it comes to their colors, after all they are sold als toys (well, most of them anyway), so their colors would not only be obliged to be waterproof, but also non hazardous, as kids may lick them or rub them and lick their fingers. The Papos and Schleichs I submerged in scalding hot and cold water (to reposition them) did not show any weaknesses in their colorization from that and I have a Schleich Panda which was buried for around 25 years in a sandbox during all weather and season and it looks almost like fresh from the shelf. For CollectA, I dunno, but would expect the same.

All factory painted plastic dinosaur toys are waterproof. That smudging looks to be an artistic effect on the part of the factory worker who airbrushed it.

I would be careful putting painted Invicta or Toyway figures in water the paint is fragile.
You can never have too many dinosaurs

I've never tried putting them in water, but Bullyland figures seem to get paint wear very easily.

Most toys today are painted with PVC paint. These paints cannot be removed by conventional paint strippers, and the only method I have heard so far of removing it is with acetone (which eats plastic and is horribly toxic) so I think it should hold up to a little water just fine.

Defiitely NOT BBC Walking with Dinosaurs, as the paint comes off in chips if slightly worn and placed in hot water. Unpainted Invictas seem fine, as do AAA, Papo and older Schleich. The new, softer Schleich ones chip incredibly easily. Painted Invictas seem to be OK in cold water for a short time. Kinto/Favorite seem OK too. How do I know? I buy a lot of figures/toys from boot sales and always give them a wash before displaying them! Don't want the deposits caused by yucky kids all over my display! :-)

so it isnt safe to wash BBC Toyway WWD figures with room temp faucet water and mild detergent or soap?
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.
