Is there a way to view the messages you've sent to others? So far I can only find the messages that I've received.

In order to see the messages that you've sent, you need to change the settings to always save a copy. When you got your messages, there is a link to Preferences where you can apply changes.

Or, when sending, you can select the box to keep a copy.

So what you're saying is that all the messages I've sent up til now are gone forever? I also changed those settings in Preferences today and sent a message, but how do you view your Outbox?

Yes, if you go into Messages and hit the dropdown menu "Sent Messages" they're all in there.  :)
