Hello all, new member Jeremy here.

I like probably most on here grew up a passion for everything dinosaurs - toys, books, cartoons, you name it. My interest was resparked as my daughter aged 2 took a loving to dinosaurs. She's a total nut for them and it's been a pleasure teaching her about dinosaurs and playing with her.

Then, a buddy of mine at work showed up one day with a Papo Velociraptor. Suddenly, the collector in me found a new hobby! I hit Amazon & eBay and within 2 months put together quite the Papo collection. Most recently I added the running T-Rex and I'm only missing the Brachiosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Tylosaurus, Pteranodon and the baby Rexes.

In my spare time I customize McFarlane NFL figures and have made quite a successful side business doing so. I'm also a moderator on a two forums - one for specifically customizing McFarlane Sportspicks and the other is a general toy customizing site - mostly Transformers, but sports, GI Joe, Star Wars & comic figures as well. I have a blog set up at 4StarCustoms.blogspot.com showcasing my work. I hope one day to take what I've learned doing those and maybe start customizing some dinosaurs.

"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Yup, you might be surprised at how many women are also into collecting toy dinosaurs. Where they were hiding most of my life I have no idea.

My apologies to all the ladies! I'm so use to my male-dominated sports & nfl forums. Given my 3 year daughters love of dinosaurs I should have expected a few girls to carry that on!

I'm glad to be part of a forum with a nice mix then!

This prompted me to do some investigating. Of all those who have disclosed their gender in their profile (there's no obligation to do so), there is a healthy male to female ratio on the dinotoyforum of 5.5 : 1

Huh, I would have thought the ratio would be higher for the women on that. Maybe due to the prominence of some of our female members.

Your story is similar to mine. 2 years ago when I got "back into" dinosaur collecting, papo's were the first dinosaurs I bought.
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!
