Here was the first mention of a new Ice Age series made by Disney without Blue Sky:

Honestly, I think the Ice Age movies had a good run and it was time to end the franchise, not continue it. I am really disappointed to read that Blue Sky will be dissolved completely and their last project will never come out. It seemed to be close to completion, that always sucks for the people involved.

Saw a bit of news yesterday that Disney is pulling back funds for the parks and in other areas to focus on their streaming platform. So it kinda makes sense.

avatar_Blade-of-the-Moon @Blade-of-the-Moon Yeah, most people predicted Disney would just shut down Blue Sky instead of making them their fourth(?) animation studio, but as someone who likes cartoons it just really bums me out knowing there is one animation studio that wasn't Disney less. It just means less variety and just more old franchises getting reused over and over again.

I mean, to be fair, Blue Sky rarely produced anything good, IMO. Most of their output was Ice Age, after all.

That being said, I'll probably check out the new show, since, aside from the Peanuts movie, Ice Age 3 was probably the best thing they ever made.

I think they did a lot of perfectly suitable childrens movies even though I did not enjoy most of them. My personal favorites being the first Ice Age and Robots. Also the project Disney shut down that only had 10 months until completion was Nimona, a movie based on the bestselling comic book. Maybe they tackled this sort of material too late, it would have been their first movie with a female lead and set in a medieval fantasyworld. Different from what they did before. Now nobody will know if this would have changed things for them. I think their biggest hits in terms of money made were Ice Age 3 and Rio 2 (funny, both movies had dinosaurs).

I am so sad over the news. I love Blue Sky, ever since I was a kid, when I wanted to work there. I especially love the first three Ice Age movies. At least the Ice Age series will continue, but still. :(
Mosasurus on Jurassic Mainframe and JPToys
Angurius on TohoKingdom

I love all the Jurassic movies, plus Disney's Dinosaur
