Taxonomical revision of the Confuciusornithiformes

A new study has redescribed all four genera and ten species in the family Confuciusornithiformes and finds that it actually consists of three genera and four species. The study finds that Confuciusornis suniae, C. feducciai, C. jianchangensis, Jinzhouornis yixanensis, and J. zhangjiyinga are all junior synonyms of C. sanctus and that C. chuonzhous can only be referred to as Confuciusornithiformes incarte sedis, as it lacks any autopamorphies of C. sanctus. This leaves just Confuciusornis sanctus, C. dui, Changchengornis hengdaoziensis, and Eoconfuciusornis zhengi within the family Confuciusornithiformes.
