He said the script is currently being rewritten and added, "Barney taught us, 'I love you, you love me. Won't you say you love me too?' That's one of the first songs I remember, and what happens when that isn't true? I thought that was really heartbreaking. I have no idea why but it feels like that makes sense. I don't see how this can possibly work. A movie length version of the TV show would be unbearable for both children and adults, and if it's not a version of the TV show, what's the point? Just make something new instead of microwaving cold nostalgia.

Never underestimate the power of Hollywood to turn something into a movie. They've made board games into movies, for Pete's sake. They can make a Barney movie. And Kaluuya is a smart cookie.

Kind of thought this was a joke when I first heard about it. Seems nuts that it's got an Oscar winning actor like Daniel Kaluuya attached but that's certainly enough to grab my attention.
