Finally joined!

Finally stopped procrastinating long enough to join this forum. I've been a fan of the dino toy blog for well over a year now so it really is about time.

I'm particularly interested in marine reptiles and parasaurolophus as well as anything to do with feathery theropods.

My other main hobby apart from palaeontology is electronic music production. I try to link the two as much as I can and palaeontology is a major influence in my music.

I've collected prehistoric animal figures since my early childhood but had a bit of a hiatus until about 18 months ago, and since then I've been getting more and more serious (as my bank balance clearly shows). I now have a good few hundred or so and no where near enough space in my unnervingly childlike bedroom to store them all. I also collect fossils, mainly plesiosaur bones (a few vertebrae, teeth, humeri, etc and the odd bit of phalanx and rib here and there). Also have a small but steadily growing similar collection of Ichy anatomy.

Also I have an unhealthy fascination with the colour blue.

No I'm not, I just chose my name because of Futabasaurus. It's one of my favourite plesiosaurs, partly because of the figures of it and partly because it combines plesiosaurs with Japan and I quite like Japan in general. (Trying really hard not to appear like an anime nerd while typing that - probably failed miserably).

Thanks. All I know is that they are mostly Kimmeridgian, from Weymouth and surrounding areas. I'll definitely try to upload photos at some point.

I'm a huge Miyazaki fan myself and can't wait to see his new movie 'Kazetachinu' which starts at Japanese cinemas on July, 20th .

Hi. Yeah I really like all the Ghibli films. Seen them all apart from 'From up on Poppy Hill' as it hasn't been released in the Yookay yet - got to wait until August 2nd.

Talking of the new movie, I came across this the other day, might be of interest. (Unless you've come across it already. I only found out there was going to be a new one out a few days ago).

I used to be an anime fan back in the day...now not so much. Sailor Moon is still my fave.

I think you'll find more than a few anime fans around here.

I've collected all the Ghibli films myself, my first was Princess Mononoke . I have a nice collection of several other shows as well among them the Tenchi series and Ah! My Goddess.

Kinda looks like origami pterosaurs there.  I REALLY wish Miyazaki would do a dinosaur film..he does have an interest in prehistoric life himself as we've seen here and there.

Hello. 
I'm slowly building up my collection of Studio Ghibli films. It all started with Spirited Away, then Princess Mononoke, then I got My Neighbor Totoro and recently bought Whisper of the heart. I think I'll need to buy Ponyo soon, fits nicely with my interest in marine life (and the prehistory link too later in the movie). I've not really watched any other anime series apart from Dinosaur King. Although I do like Ghost in the Shell and the sequel: Innocence. Something about the philosophy in those just resonates with me for some reason.

Ponyo is a good film..and it has has prehistoric marine life in it as well.
