First time for me!

So what's the London Natural History Museum like? Does it sell a good selection of dinosaurs in its store? What brands?

The Natural History Museum is pretty great, especially for marine reptiles. When I was there I picked up a couple of Toyway figures--the diplodocus and the baryonyx--but that was two years ago so I have no idea if they still sell them. Another great dino place in London is Crystal Palace. My wife and I had a great time there checking out the original dino sculptures and exploring the ruins of the Crystal Palace. They have a topiary maze, too. It's a great park to take a lunch and just relax and explore a little.

Cool, have fun. I have been to London once in my life, and it's a pretty awesome experience. Although it was very overwhelming for me, being the country bumpkin that I am :-[

The museum shop isn't great for dinosaurs toys. It should be, but it isn't. It as a great museum though!

Perhaps another DTF meet up is on the cards this year?

I found both the NHM and Crystal Palace Park a must-visit for dinosaur aficionados. The latter is a bit out of the way, but well worth the trip.

I agree the NHM's ship is very disappointing for dinosaur toy collectors though. Some of the Toyway figures are okay, but most are abysmal.

The shop doesn't really have anything special, but the museum itself is great.

I'm sad to hear all that. It seems I've been having bad luck with museum shops lately. The National Museum of Natural History in DC last year barely had any decent dinosaur figures at all. Even the the AMNH in NYC carried only a limited selection of Safari. What gives?

AMNH is on and off. Sometimes they have a great selection; other times not so much. The Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia has a huge shop with Safaris, CollectAs, and Papos amongst others (at least when I went a few years back).

That sounds like a great idea and I'd be up for that again (if free). Alternatively, what about a trip to Crystal Palace, the dinos have been done up recently, haven't they?

That's a good idea! To my shame I've never been before. We should certainly make a plan...
