Any other webmasters out there? I'm investigating new hosts for dinotoyblog because I'm unhappy with my current situation. Any recommendations for reliable hosts would be very welcome! Any I should avoid?

I have heard good things about xmission, but I should say it has been over a decade since I ran a web site.

Not sure, but the amount of downtime we experience is abnormal.

Ideally, I'd like to have a dedicated server for just my own websites, including this forum - a server I have direct control over.

It wouldn't give you any more control over large scale server things (if anything ti might be less) but Zetaboards is quick to learn and gives a lot more finite control over things like icons, post embedding, image resizing, etc.

I don't entirely recommend it, but it's very good for micro managing and quickly adding or changing elements.

Thanks, but SMF is quite flexible and reliable. I don't want to change the forum system, just the servers our database and website files are hosted on.
