I've been hanging out around various dino toy site the last few weeks, trying to decide if this was a hobby I wanted to get into.  I'm very interested in dinos, prehistoric mammals, and evolution in general, I'm very interested in paleoart/reconstruction, and I'm already a comic/action figure nerd, so it was a pretty natural progression.  I've been buying various pieces over the last couple weeks, and though I recognize some of the more hardcore fans abhor Papo for anatomical inaccuracies, I have to say that my previous action figure collecting habit makes me tend towards their sculpts and paint apps.  I am all for accuracy, but I'll take sculpt over it in a pinch.  Though I have of course been buying other collections that catch my eye. :)  I largely decided to join here because there are questions I was just not finding the answers to in other places and thought it would be nice to have other aficionados to communicate with on those topics.  So hopefully my inquiries won't get too annoying to long-time members.

"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

hi and welcome. :)

Thanks.

And one thing I forgot to mention: I also hope to learn from being here.  Some of the folks around here seem pretty steeped in and up-to-date-on the latest paleontological info, so I hope to ride their coat-tails to greater knowledge. :)  I do some reading and such on my own, but I read a lot of books that have nothing to do with this stuff as well. :)

Welcome to the site. I think you'll find this hobby quite addicting.

Welcome CM! Even though I'm a bit of a stickler for accuracy, my favourite dino figure is a Papo - the Allosaurus :)

Welcome~ this is a pretty great forum, even if you mostly just lurk at the collection posts  :))

And I know how you feel about Papo... their attention to detail and awesome sculpting skills are just too good to resist.

I think most of us like Papo. And welcome to the forum. For any questions you might have, there are probably at least a good handful of people here who can offer an answer or some good insight.
