New terrestrial crocodile from Brazil

Meet Caipirasuchus mineirus from the Late Cretaceous, running around alongside the southern dinosaurs:


Just one of the many land crocs in the clade Notosuchia ("southern crocodiles"), of which the famous Kaprosuchus is an example.

On the first glance, the skull looks kinda mammalian like.

Yeah, it was probably doing jobs now done by mammals! If it weren't for the composition of the jaw joint, it would be harder to tell it was a crocodile.
