I've just posted a review to officially launch the Monster Toy Blog!

https://monstertoyblog.com/loch-ness-monster-aaa/

There are lots more reviews in the pipeline so this will be a busy week for the new website. I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing it take off like the Animal Toy Blog did!

Will there be a Monster Toy Forum to accompany it?
We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there - there you could look at a thing monstrous and free." - King Kong, 2005

If there's a demand for it, but not yet, for those who aren't aware I set up a monster section on the Animal Toy Forum for now: https://animaltoyforum.com/index.php?board=71.0. We'll see how it goes. I don't want to put in a lot of time and effort to create a dead forum.

Nice review Gwangi, and interesting to see a model of a model!

I had the glow in the dark Aurora model when I was a kid. There were two heads, hands, sail (?) etc so you had a choice which way to build it. I chose glow in the dark, but it used to scare me if I woke up in the night!

There was an urban myth that the glow paint really was radioactive and affected Aurora workers' health but that's probably bollocks - "never did me any harm" anyway!

Thanks! It would have been great if they made this figure glow-in-the-dark too. That's funny that it scared you as a kid. Did you end up throwing a blanket over it or something?

I can see how one might think the glow-in-the-dark paint was radioactive, especially back then! Who knows what's in that stuff though. Turns out a lot of the toy dinosaurs I had in the 80's and 90's had lead paint on them. Never did me any harm! Still wouldn't give them to my own kids though.

Completely agree, those old toys shouldn't be given to young children to play with - grown ups only!

I was ok with the glow in the dark Godzilla mostly, but a couple of times woke up quickly and got freaked out by it until I realised what it was - it really did glow deep into the night! I think my Mam and Dad moved it out of the line of vision in the end.

Maybe it was radioactive then. Most of the modern glow-in-the-dark toys fade away pretty quickly and need intense light exposure to glow in the first place.

Looks like Super7 does make glow-in-the-dark Godzilla figures. Not sure why this one wasn't. All well.
