The article I read, and each other article I skimmed, didn't mention how the amber was sourced, which concerns me. I'm excited to hear and share news but if it's blood amber I'd rather have nothing to do with it.

Very interesting find. Even the paper doesn't go into detail on the sourcing, but it does specify that the specimen is deposited at the Lingpoge Amber Museum in Shanghai, and that it came from the mine near Noije Bum (but when? Under whose direction?).
