A darker background might help..maybe natural lighting as well ?

I find that using a tripod is always preferable--it allows me to use longer lighting exposures and pointed lamps to try and highlight/minimize shadows.

Sometimes I don't even use a camera flash--if it's on a tripod, it can usually stay steady enough to remain clear. Usually :P

I have to agree with removing the spikes for the feathered rex.  And can we have a feathered tail end?

Oh, and thanks for making that 1/72 stegosaurus.  Can we also have a 1/72 Giraffatitan please? (one can dream)

I have a really cheapo Kodak digital from walmart..I take about 20 pics and 2 look pretty good..lol Though sunlight really helps it.

Ditto on adding tail feathers...might as well go the whole 9 yards right ?

My next dinosaur will be a sauropod from Spain, maybe in a future I try with the Giraffatitan

I keep working on the feathered T. Rex and this is what I have now, still not sure about the tail feathers, what do you think?

Yutyrannus

Perfect! Please keep the tail feathers.

Blade-of-the-Moon

looks really good to me !

You now should add some scares to the face.    A lot of Feather haters complain that Feathers are not Badass ::) ::)

Prove them wrong and make this look like a fighter.  >:D

Tail feathers are pretty cool, but maybe a little more ratite-like and some wings with the same style! Or maybe 2 versions with no tail fan or wings and one with the just the basic feathery coat? Looks really great so far!!! Can't wait to buy her! ^-^

Splendid! I think the tail fan works quite well. The individual feathers on it do look pretty big, though. I wonder what the fan would look like with more, smaller feathers? I also like the ragged feathers on the lower jaw; very cool.

Wing feathers are a great idea! I do think it makes sense for an animal with a tail fan to also have wings.

alexeratops

like a bantha!

Yeah, I was going to say that the feathers look a little large too.

I can't really complain about your model.  It is lovely.  The tail fan may not be possible though.  People have assumed its (the tail fan) presence on oviraptor and kin since some of their fossils were found with a pygostyle - the fused tail similar to birds that supports a tail fan.  Rex may just have a typical bushy tail.

However, that's just conjecture on my part - please go with whatever style you want.  Again, I can't wait for the finished model.

.... 'also can't wait for your sauropod. ;D ;D ;D

tyrantqueen

That's a cute and awesome T.rex :)

Thank you for your comments, I have been testing some of your suggestions. This is another approach to the tail, maybe more realistic because as I said the last one didn't convinced me. Even though I don't use the tail feathers on this Rex, it have been a great practice for future feathered dinosaurs.

And here is the other dinosaur I'm working on, a sauropod from Spain called Turiasaurus:

Brilliant!  This tail IS better IMO.  And thanks for the sauropod.

DeadToothCrackKnuckle

The Tyrannosaurus looks even more ravishing than before! Well done! Simply amazing!

Blade-of-the-Moon

Agreed, much better tail now..probably more likely as well.

Wow..is the human/Alan Grant there 1:40 ? ;D

darth daniel

Wow the Turiasaurus is very cool! Would love to get one at some point. If you´ll release it, please do one pose with the head pointing straight forward, I´d love to have one in a more neutral position. :)
