Quote from: Elengassen on October 18, 2024, 01:30:55 AMCamptosaurus and Scelidosaurus seem to be among the genera companies are allergic to. The only one of the major companies that's made them is CollectA, and that was over a decade ago.
I'm hoping CollectA will make Scelidosaurus again soon!  They like making British dinosaurs and I'm confident their next one will be a new version of Scelidosaurus, Eotyrannus or Eustreptospondylus, or a smaller Polacanthus.  We should see if this is the case in a few weeks now!

I would not be surprised if CollectA has a 1:6 Scelidosaurus up their sleeve. While their 2023 Polacanthus was a bit of a let down for me, I think they can knock it out of the park with a species with remains as good as Scelidosaurus, considering how well their Stegouros turned out.

I don't think Haolonggood will be the company to give us a Scelidosaurus, at least not as a standalone release unfortunately based on the Huayangosaurus situation. Scelidosaurus is a considerably smaller species than the aforementioned stegosaur afterall.

Quote from: Sim on October 18, 2024, 01:25:29 AMI would LOVE a Scelidosaurus, but I think all of the genera you listed would be too small for Haolonggood to sell on their own.  Perhaps for Scelidosaurus it could be sold as a pack of two, one bipedal and one quadrupedal, showing the different ways it could move around?  They would complement the Haolonggood Dilophosaurus nicely.

Well, according to the DinosDragons video their Dilophosaurus can represent a 7-meter individual at 1:35, though they did sell them as a pack of two, do you think it wouldn't have been cost-efficient to do a single individual? I suppose for any of these they could do a pair in different positions as you said, or maybe a bonus to go with some other model like the Huayangosaurus that's coming with Argentinosaurus pre-orders. Camptosaurus is about the same size as Dilophosaurus at 6.8 m, Liliensternus is 5.2 meters, Scelidosaurus and Zupaysaurus might be pushing it terms of smallness for standalones even in pairs at 4 m, but could work for go-withs since that's also about the size of Huayangosaurus.

They have already released the Diabloceratops as a standalone figure, which is the smallest figure they have produced. Diabloceratops has been estimated at 4 to 4.5 m length and the figure is 12.4 cm long, so perfectly 1:35 scale. Therefore it is clear that figures of species that are in the size range of 4 to 4.5 m are technically feasible. Another question is of course if such small figures are economically feasible, as there are basic costs which like research, design, prototyping and production of the molds are largely independent of the size of a figure. This problem could of course be solved by giving these small figures a bit higher price and communicating this up front. I am pretty confident that many collectors would be willing to pay some 5 USD more for a figure of a highly desirable small species.

Someone mentioned maybe getting a bonus Kentrosaurus with the potential Brachiosaurus/Giraffatitan release, after the Huyangosaurus/Argentinosaurus package. That seems like an odd combination though, since Argetinosaurus and Huayangosaurus have nothing in common. Not a complaint mind, but odd in retrospect.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Sim

I didn't think anything of it when they were released, but now I do think Haolonggood wouldn't sell Dilophosaurus as a single figure without anything else.

crazy8wizard

That downside could be turned into an upside if they packaged a Sarahsaurus in with it!

I don't find the Dilophosaurus coming in a pair a downside, since they cost so little.  I think it would be a problem if something I wanted came with a giant sauropod I don't want...

Torvosaurus

Was there an Udanoceratops on the poster for new releases this year? That is a dinosaur I would really like to see. I know it's smallish for a 1:35 dinosaur, but it is huge compared to other leptoceratopsids and might be worth making.

T @Torvosaurus, there wasn't an Udanoceratops on the poster, but on Facebook Haolonggood has said they will be making Udanoceratops.

Fully agree that making the Dilophosaurus as a pair was actually a very good idea, especially with the two very different poses. Lends itself very nicely to diorama building.

The small ceratopsians (Kosmoceratops, Chasmosaurus, Diabloceratops) they have released so far all cost 16.99 USD. I would not mind if they produce small figures like Kentrosaurus etc. and they would cost lets say 19.99 USD. One would still get a high quality figure for a reasonable price.

I'd love to see pretty much any Pterosaur since I feel they are neglected. I'd also love to see a Lokiceratops.

Could they be the ones to finally give us the majestic Cotylorhynchus?

Big bulky herbivore? Right up Haolonggood's alley! ;)  ;D
Geuniely surprised we don't have a Cotylorhynchus figure from anyone yet. It's such a bizarre animal. The pinnacle of evolution dare I say.

crazy8wizard

I'd love to own a Cotylorhynchus not just because it's a classic permian weirdo but because I know I would love a figure with that much HEFT. Heavy figures are alluring to me, especially if they're more massive than their overall size would imply.

Turkeysaurus

Erythrosuchus would be super cool to have as well. There are many creatures i would rather have than some of the almost identical looking dinosaurs.

There are some cool collecta, safari ltd stuff but i wish they were at psno, haolonggood level.

Sim

I find it surprising Erythrosuchus hasn't been made by anyone yet.  It's monstrous and unique-looking, what more can you want?  avatar_Turkeysaurus @Turkeysaurus, if you're happy to could you list other species you'd like Haolonggood to make?  I'm interested in knowing what they are.

Dimetrodon
Inostrancevia
Scutosaurus
Lisowicia
Anteosaurus
Jonkeria
Struthiocephalus
Moschops
Estemmenosuchus
Tapinocephalus
Desmatosuchus
Poposaurus
Postosuchus
Fasolasuchus
Erythrosuchus
Cotylorhynchus

16 animals maybe a few more or less. Not just what i want but might make sense for a company too. They are large, they are scientifically accurate yet awesomebro look creatures that might have appeal for everybody looking other than a dinosaur.

Second this list. Throw some phytosaurs in there as well and most of my dream picks are in here.

Halichoeres

For some of those I'm happy enough with existing versions, but if the likes of PNSO, HLG, or EoFauna made them it'd be hard to turn them down.

Might be one of the few toys that would make a better club than Schleich's Shonisaurus.
