HAOLONGGOOD - New for 2024

I've checked how big a 1:35 Shantungosaurus would be and while I hope Haolonggood does make it in that scale, it doesn't really interest me.  A Haolonggood Shantungosaurus has gone from a probable buy to almost certainly of no interest, for me.  It will take up a lot of room and for a species that I'm not much interested in, I don't think I want to lose space for it.

I also find it a bit frustrating that Haolonggood's new theropods show no signs of appearing yet.  It's been about a year full of ornithischians and sauropods, now Shantungosaurus is confirmed... where are the theropods?

It's been a learning and development curve for HLG theropods; clearly they've had more issues with them, far more challenges than with their other figures, so maybe they're holding off till they feel that they are on a par with their other offerings. I did feel that their Megaraptor was an very fine piece, so I don't think that the wait will be that much longer. I noticed that Aliexpress vendors were selling off their existing stocks of HLG T-rexes at greatly reduced prices, perhaps getting ready for a new, improved one?

Honestly if they ignore theropods for the most part I'm ok with it. We have PNSO to pick up that slack. Where one is dropping the ball the other is picking it up so I don't see a problem myself.

Shantungosaurus will be very cool when made.

Joliezac

As much as I love therapods we have so many from other brands, especially PNSO, I'm okay with waiting until Haolonggood gets more experienced. If they made a therapod at the same level as their triceratops, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Another in-hand pic of 131 (green).

FLAFFY:

Great photo---I also preordered the 131 Argentinosarus.
Is your Maus in 1/35 scale? I got a Maus on ebay in 1/35 many years ago, but it's in prototype primer red paint scheme. I also a have Dragon 1/72 Maus in theoretical combat paint scheme.

Sorry not my image, from Baidu again. The only tank model I ever considered getting was a Mark IV mini (the 1:100 Panzerkampf one I believe), after my visit to the Bovington Tank Museum!

Green looks more grey to me?  It's very dark though.

Very dark, perfect for those who prefer a more subdued look. The carpark prototype under natural lighting had a deep forest green hue, which probably doesn't show up too well in pictures.

The latter is how fans of herbivores like myself have been feeling during the long march of the theropods by PNSO, so I can feel compassion towards the way you feel about this.

We can of course only guess why Haolonggood has not produced a single theropod figure in a year.

They got quite some negative (or at least not completely positive) feedback on some of their theropods from last year, and therefore they may have opted to further improve them.

They may have also realized that the competition from PNSO theropods is too strong and it would require a major investment and effort to beat PNSO in this area.

They may also want to take advantage of the hype the release of their 1:35 scale sauropods has created. They may want to ride the wave as long as it lasts.

Dinos Dragons review of Huayangosaurus:

Dinos Dragons refers to a size estimate of 4 meters for Huayangosaurus. One can find size estimates in the range of 4 to 4.5 meters. With 14 cm length through the centra, the figure would represent a 4.9 meter sized individual in 1:35 scale. I think this is still within the permissible range.

With Huayangosaurus being now produced by Haolonggood, there is no excuse why they cannot produce Kentrosaurus or Gigantspinosaurus. Hopefully one of these will be in the roster for next year, ideally along with a Tuojiangsaurus.

Flaffy

My only nitpick about the Huayangosaurus is the seeming lack of tail club.

A couple more of 131 in better lighting

Yes, I noticed that too.  I guess the tail club could be considered a possible pathology, the Huayangosaurus specimen has two vertebrae fused at about halfway down the tail which I'm certain is a pathology.  I prefer the inclusion of the tail club as a normal feature of Huayangosaurus though, I think that is the most likely scenario, so I'm happy to be sticking with my Kaiyodo Huayangosaurus.

In this light it looks definitely green. The darker mottling on the sides is more sparsely applied than in the promotional images though. The ventral side seems to have that more ochre color that I liked on the promo images. We still need to see these dark highlights on the dorsal side that looked so nice in the promo images.

The Mamenchisaurus we see in one of the pictures is the Linghu studio resin model whose head and face I liked so much. But it was so huge that with a heavy heart I had to pass on this one. The Camarasaurus we see in the same picture is also from Linghu studio.

I really like the body color, but I would need to have a closer look at the head.

Turkeysaurus

Do we have such great pics of Brown & Purple ones?

Only one report of Brown so far, but in-hand pics of Purple have been posted before in this thread. The latter in particular already have had great pics from Lana, and a full unboxing from HLG themselves.

Though here are some pics of 001 from Japanese collectors on Twitter.
