That is a great looking Giganotosaurus...love the color variants.

Not sure about that head reconstruction. The nasal ridge should no be extending that far down the skull. I wonder how this error came to be when they (likely?) referenced Dan Folke's skeletal. Looking forward to better pics to see if this is a true error or not.

I think the ridge is possible as an ornamental feature inherited from an allosauroid ancestor which had them supported by bone.  At the same time, the nasal ridge in the Haolonggood Giganotosaurus could be the central structure seen on the figure, consistent with Mark Witton's interpretation that carcharodontosaurids had a single nasal ridge on the midline which supported a keratinised surface...

Monkeysaurus

Wow, those -actually look really good. A bit too early to tell but they may be my first HLG theropod purchase in quite a while now. The color schemes also look like they've put in effort. Are these coming out next or is it the dippy?

Gosh darnit, how can I be expected to say no to that?

Wow, that diplodocus is incredible...

I've been lovingly clinging to my Carnegie Giganotosaurus for over a decade without feeling the need for another but I think I'm going to need this one. As for the Diplodocus, it's one of the last sauropods I need another model of. I have the 2008 Carnegie and Eofauna's (and others) so I think I can skip this one, even if I don't want to.

Diplodocus is one dinosaur I will never desire another toy of. The giant 2008 Carnegie version is all I need.

There is one Diplodocus I would snatch up if I ever came across it. I don't think I even need to specify.

Quote from: suspsy on July 20, 2025, 04:39:07 PMOh, so Giganotosaurus gets lips, but Tyrannosaurus doesn't because . . . "something something we thought it looked cooler that way"?

Don't get me wrong. This Giganotosaurus looks superb and I'm happy that it looks the way it does. I just really dislike how inconsistent Haolonggood is being about theropod lips.
I'd rather inconsistent lippage than no lipped figures at all

The problem is that the position it's in. There isn't any osteological correlates that supports keratinous structures sitting there. As unlike in more basal allosauroids, the position the ridge (on HLG's sculpt) extends is right on top of the anorbital foramen, i.e. soft flesh and air-filled spaces.

The extent of the midline ridge is speculative and up for debate, but so long as the sculpt connects it to the nasal ridges rather than treating it as a separate structure, it's fine in my eyes.

Hence in my original post I want to see close ups of the head before making a final judgement.

Dippy is stunning so far.

While I hope that the latest paper detailing Diplodocus integument is taken into account for this figure, based on HLG's history on referencing the fossil record I am not holding my breath for it.

The Templar of the Past

It looks pretty though I believe I will get the EoFauna one as its coloration reminds me more of Dino Hunter Deadly Shores Giganotosaurus.

I'm going to need some alone time with this diplodocus please.

I was thinking that the "ridge" we're talking about on the Giganotosaurus could just be ornamental scales.  As far as I'm aware there isn't anything stopping them being present over a fenestra?

The Giga is good/decent nothing outstanding.

Diplo is super cool!

Both remind me of the Eofauna equivalents but better.

Also, if anyone wants to downsize and replace their Carnegie Giga or Diplo, let me know  ^-^  ^-^

How should the integument look?
