So, I was sorting through my tyrannosaur collection , and realized there aren't really that many Albertosaurus figures out there.  There's the fine Carnegie , the X-Plus, and a fancy CM studios version, but are there any smaller ones?  Same goes for Gorgosaurus (Wild Safari, Geene Models, Krentz) and Daspletosaurus (CollectA, Foulkes, Geene Models).  Any other possibly-available (and affordable) versions of these guys around?  Yes, I realize Schleich has a horrible Alberto, I'm just ignoring that it exists.

Depending on just how small you're looking for, there are a few other tyrannosaurs out there. David Krentz has a Bistahieversor on Shapeways, Kaiyodo and Takara/Tomy each made a Yutyrannus, and Kaiyodo has a Tarbosaurus and its skeleton.

I had read that Gorgosaurus is not considered a valid seperate species anymore. I believe Dale Russell assigned the species to Albertosaurus as far back as 1970, and Barnum Brown seemed to question the two seperate species as far back as 1922.  If that is the case, it would explain the lack of models and replicas for the species
Authors with varying competence have suggested dinosaurs disappeared because of meteorites...God's will, raids by little green hunters in flying saucers, lack of standing room in Noah's Ark, and palaeoweltschmerz—Glenn Jepsen

Takara Tomy also released a Zhuchengtyrannus, while Collecta have produced another Tarbosaurus.

Gorgosaurus is a genus, not a species. But yes, Gorgosaurus libratus has been sunk into Albertosaurus in the past, but its taxonomy remains in dispute.

Thank you, yes, I'm aware there are many other small tyrannosaurs out there; in fact I just posted the Bista in my paint thread, and I have many of the others, including Tarbosaurus, Eotyrannus. Siamotyrannus and others  My question was, specifically, what other  Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus figures are out there. Should have clarified that in my subject line (fixed) sorry 8)

Wouldn't that entirely depend wether it were a seperate species of Albertosaurus, a singlular genus of Tyrannosaurid, or collapsed within Albertosaurus itself?

"Arrgh!" This is turning into a Monty Python sketch.  What I'm asking, is, are there any other dinosaur models or figures, specifically labelled as either Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus or Daspletosaurus out there, apart from the ones I've already mentioned?

Plus, bloody 'ell!  I've already changed the name o' the bleedin' thread!

You weren't specific about size of figure, so I will pretend it doesn't matter.

There is a Drumheller Albertosaurus figure produced by a store there, for there. I personally don't have one, but it's all right, someone here likely has one.

There is a decent Daspletosaurus figure from the Dinosaur King Playmates line (a small one, but there is likely a larger hollow version as well)

They show up on ebay.

I am otherwise unaware of more, other than the ones you mentioned (not that there are that many) and I don't know much about the model kits out there.

Also, SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM

And I'd like to return this dead parrot.

Thanks Sean, although I'm just now wondering about the thread title.  It was a thread I started initially, and after Patrx posted, I changed the thread title to be more exclusive of what I meant, yet still two versions seem to be lurking out there...
???

You forgot the Dinosaur Studio Gorgosaurus/Albertosaurus sculpted by Greg Wenzel.

It's an odd thing--I think the system defaults a reply to the original title, but uses the actual title in place when quoting. However, I was able to go back and change mine, so it doesn't have to be that way!

Oh that's a nice one!  Is it yours?  And I forgot, I actually have the Takugawa 1:48 Alberto. :-[

In my opinion, the Wenzel 1/35 Albertosaurus is by far the best out there IF it´s still available.

I´ve 2 of them and wouldn´t say no to another.

As for taxonomy, all 3 genera are currently valid. Gorgosaurus was sunk by Russell, but resurrected by Currie. Thomas Carr has some convincing arguments for sinking G. within A. again, as yet not formally published. If his reasoning find favour it could result in the lumping of taxa as similar as  (dare I say it) .... two large Maastrichtian ceratopsians.

Yeah, that one's mine.  I bought it off ebay a couple of years ago and just haven't had the time to clean it up and paint it.

Crurrently I am doingg a gorgosaurus figure  ^-^, I will share images of it
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

The Drumheller Albertosaurus is labelled Albertosaurus libratus from what I recall.

I can't help with a picture as mine is currently boxed away whilst I redecorate. I did post a picture on the old forum and I would imagine DeanM would likely be able to help with a better picture.

SBell

It's this one:

It was apparently made in conjunction with the Tyrrell Museum--it's several years old (at least>15) which might explain the 'revised' taxonomy.

As far as I know, you can still buy it directly here

Again, oddly, I've never bothered, even when it was only $5 (in-store). I like my Carnegie just fine.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Any idea who sculpted it ? It has a kind of Safari/Carnegie vibe going.

deanm

I'm not sure who sculpted it.  I've included a photo of the back of the box (as sbell has already posted the figure and the box front view).

And you can see where I got my figure and the price too... 5.95 Cdn$   :)
