Let me make sure I am getting this correct: are you saying that unexperienced members are getting taken advantage of/ripped off?

....I think your heart is in the right place, but I would also say that it takes two to tango....
Hi, tyrantqueen.
I noticed you an me see eye to eye on many subjects.
As for this one, It is like someone having sex with a child and saying it was with consent...
I did not want to mention names, but of the way a person expresses himself, you can learn he may be somewhat chalanged and need some protection.
and for one of our prominant members to take advantage of it goes beyond legit 'Capitalism' .
And it is not so hard to find out who that one might be - and I'm not entirely surprised ...

The whole discussion was actually started after I mentioned there are great Battat opertunities now -

Also other people were not behaving for just overbid him as a game - knowing he will outbid no matter the price.
I wish they will stop playing him arround...

And I said much more than I initialy  intended.

Was too political.  Deleted my post.

C:-) Thanks. Good call considering two members are currently banned for overt political posts (among other things). I've also deleted the responses. We know from experience that political topics lead swiftly to serious forum rules being broken, which is why political posts are discouraged. C:-)

I think this discussion about some unidentified forum member scalping Shonisaurus is a bit tricky. If you have to make accusations you better come up with names and serious proof, otherwise sounds more like a generic and unnecessary provocation.

BrontoScorpio

The whole point is Not to mention names ...

Halichoeres

Even if the accusation has some merit, the insult to Shonisaurus inherent in it is pretty egregious.

For me, tyrannosaurus "feet of snow" was a big expense, but the eBay seller whose name I'm not going to reveal it is not to blame. He is a magnificent person, and good people, or anyone, obviously an eBay seller. I have sells it for the price I want and if there is someone who buys it, it is not his fault. It was a coincidence in the eBay market but we must not overflow the issues, honestly I thought the price was too high but that is really worth that price, the figure is extremely rare, as already discussed in the forum. And I understand that nobody is to blame.

That's right if someone from the forum is willing to sell me the Battat dinosaur miniatures (amargasaurus, triceratops, tyrannosaurus, stegosaurus and edmontonia), the Battat 1st tyrannosaurus and Battat dilophosaurus original 1994 version apart from the prehistoric and amphibian mammals of Play Visions that I offered to buy from forum members in general, they know where they have a buyer insurance. I only limit myself to certain companies. The prehistoric animals of Battat and Play Visions fascinate me and for that reason I have spent a few figures of money that I have assumed and I will be a lot of sacrifice but I understand that the fault is not the seller of eBay, the blame in any case I will have

I simply commented on this anecdote for the joy that I had to buy that figure, but in no way did I intend to generate this controversy, much less in my words I intended to offend a member of the forum that has given me the opportunity to buy such a beautiful figure. I suppose a lot of sacrifice and I know that in this case it has been a lot of money but I understand that the seller is not at fault, he only sells his figures putting a price on the market and in this case as you say is high, but I reiterate in any case the fault is not the seller but the buyer (as is my case) that lends to buy the figure.

I reiterate my offer of if someone from the DTF sells me the figures mentioned in the second paragraph for a more affordable price because they know where they have a safe buyer.

As stated in the message of the purchase of the tyrantnosaurus "feet of snow" of Battat the member of the forum has a message of the contract in which he says that before buying said figure one gets in contact with that seller of eBay, therefore it's not his fault If you buy it you can not go back, that's what the contract says and it says in big letters PLEASE READ. Therefore, there is no fault of that part of the forum, for my part, because of the shortage of Battat figures and more of that figure of tyrannosaurus "feet of snow" I did not hesitate to second and decided to risk thinking there would not be many opportunities perhaps no other opportunity.

On the other hand that same member of the eBay selling forum had no idea who was the seller until I bought your product and I got to know with my nickname "Shonisaurus", therefore it is a legal sale and the seller of eBay did its work honorably. The fault is only mine.

SidB

An interesting and, at the end of the day, enlightening exchange, believe it or not. On one hand, I was moved by BrontoScorpio's concern for the well-being of a fellow DTF member - well done! On the other hand, Shonisaurus reminds us, as collectors, that sometimes we "suck it up" and willingly pay the "big bucks," because: a) we can afford it; b) for some of us, there's more time behind us than in front of us and therefore there might not be many more or anymore opportunities to acquire a long desired item.

I attest that BrontoScorpio's concern for my over-purchase of that Battat tyrannosaurus impressed me by offering me a tyrannosaurus "feet of snow" that was more than a quarter of what the dinosaur cost me in the eBay store. But it was too late according to the clauses of the contract to go back. His generosity and altruism portray him as a person of absolute nobility.

A rarely made taxon. I have this figure and I quite like it.

I wish I knew how too use eBay, but when I registered it didn't accept the addresses I gave and I gave up and haven't tried again. Those are all the ones I want the most. Hopefully they'll go to a good owner.

Dontcha hate that!? Wish the Chungkingosaurus would drop in price! Kicking myself for not buying it when I saw one early last year for $70 AU. Those were the days. Unfortunately the right price and ready cash do not always happen at the same time. I think this one will soon move to on my 'I'll never own that' list unfortunately.

Thanks for the link. I used to order from Sue and Mike but shipping rates from the UK to Australia have risen to the point where it is no longer an economical option. I have send a message asking for a shipping quote anyhow - you never know they may strike a deal based on former customer status. Not optimistic though. They have a business to run.

I know this feeling well - mostly with fashion dolls, but definitely with dinosaurs sometimes too - especially limited editions...

Yep, this figure is going on that other list I mentioned. Everything Dinosaur got back to me and the best they could offer still comes to a whopping $150 AU. Can't afford it.
