Geez, you're right. $250 is a stupid amount, since these figures are so easily available and everyone has one that they're just dying to get rid of. Care to show one of these people to me?

Patience is a virtue, my dear.  I copped two of these over the past 3 years on ebay, for about $60 each.  They are not that rare.

However, in your defence I must admit that there have been more than a couple of various dinosaur pieces that I paid a premium for because I was impulsive, or grew tired of waiting to acquire one.  Such is the hobby of collecting.

One thing is certain, however - you WILL enjoy this figure - it IS the best plastic TRex out there, even 15+ years after its release, which saying something.
Thanks :) That is a small consolation I guess.

Bargain shopping and Ebay lots are my hope for Battat collecting too. I got a pretty good deal on a Utahraptor for 50 cents, but I haven't got much further since. And some Battats you're just not gonna get in Ebay lots without heavy competition because they stick out immediately. Yes, I mean you, Dippy! ::)

The smaller Battats are the most common ones in lots, like Utahraptor, Styracosaurus, Dilophosaurus, ocasionally you find a Triceratops. The most sought after ones, T.rex, Acrocanthosaurus, Diplodocus don't last long, even on the most messy of the lots. From all Battats I have only two I found in lots. The Utahraptor, in a lot for 9.99 plus lots of invictas and carnegies (It was a very good deal) and the other one I bought as a BIN lot, but it's in the mail, so I'll not tell you what it is.

Talk about false advertising http://www.ebay.com/itm/INFRARED-CONTROL-SUCHOMIMUS-DINOSAUR-MULTIFUNCTION-CONTROLLER-NEW-/281036886873?pt=Electronic_Battery_Windup_Toys_US&hash=item416f1a9359 Not only does it look nothing like the animal on the box, but it also looks nothing like a suchomimus for that matter.

With my Battats I got two in a BIN lot; the mini Utahraptor and mini Dilophosaurus. I don't think I spent more than ten on it. My other Battat is the Dilophosaurus which was in a lot with a painted Invicta Scelidosaurus and other toys that made it worthwhile. I don't think I spent more than 15-20 on that one. I really do like that I got those at a bargain but yeah, patience is key. It has been over a year since I got them.

The art on the box is gorgeous.

I got my Battat Acro as a BIN for £35 (around 50 US dollars). Would you consider that a good deal?

10 years ago - NO.

The last few years - YES

I have seen a good condition Battat Acro go for well over $100 on ebay.

(There don't you feel better now? ;>)

Two years ago I got a near complete set of large battats for about $7 for figure, mostly mint with tags (sadly there was no diplo, and all the tags were damaged). They were listed as carnegies and listed as BINs. Later I got a second acro for about $30 and a used diplo for $75, as well as several more common battat figs (like the ourano) from different mislabeled or unlabeled lots on ebay. I think I have seen every large battat, and nearly every mini, go for some cheap price at one time or another on ebay during the past two years because it was mislabeled or the seller listed it for a cheap BIN not realizing the value. It is definitely possible to build a "cheap" battat collection using ebay :) Back when I was still looking for them, I usually found at least one hidden battat every 1-2 months, and they rarely sold for their true value. In October I even saw a lot on craigslist (a person giving away a bunch of used dinosaur toys) with a battat acro and several less valuable battats mixed in... but the seller didn't seem trustworthy of selling to anyone non-local and stopped responding to me after only 2 emails. (I no longer try to find dinosaurs on craigslist--chances are you WILL find something awesome there, but chances are the seller will not want to ship to you, so it only becomes a form of torture).

Is that Waiphoon Ornitholestes supposed to be rare or something? I have about 3 of those lying around that I got in mixed lots.

Some people quite like them, so why not point it out. Waiphoon is not a very commonly available company.

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no
