Thank you for showing us the work behind the finished photo.  I'm amazed how you transformed the various ceratopsians.

WOW, what an amazing process! Congratulation for winning, your is my favorite ^-^
I am always amazed by the level of craftsmanship of all of your dioramas, they are very professionally done!
Most of all, I am impressed by the dedication you put in to each piece, and the level of attention to details. I knew you repainted figures, but can't believe you also mix and match heads and bodies from different figures! That is truly amazing!
I'm glad you picked the CollectA colors, it's by far my favorite colors given of all the ceratopsian models I have and seen. CollectA should feature your work on their site, it truly is amazing.
Thank you again for sharing with us your talent and passion for creating amazing dioramas!

I'm curios, so what do you do with all of these figures? Do you display them together?

Thank you so much for this fantastic comment and great praise of my work. But I think, that the level of Irimali as 'best of all' winner is at least so high and her attention to the details is sometimes more profund because every part in her sets is done by herself. Here in my dioramas is a lot a ready-made and maybe well collected. Of course I see again the room of improvements after done this diorama. But I'm also glad, for reaching the actual upgrade in the scenery. And I hope every time for the next contest – it will be even more a better scenery.

I think it would be difficult for CollectA to use this setting because the brands are well mixed. The Pteronodon is a Kaiyodo, the Crocodile a Papo, the members of the herd come from CollectA, Safari, Vivid and Shapeways and so on. Just the combination of Ceratopsids between the CollectA models could be an interesting idea for a forum. But I don't know: Have CollectA a facebook community e. g. like REBOR?

After the shooting the actors of the dioramas go sleeping in cardboards. I have no space to display they all for a longer time. And some ideas with sauropods have even more required space. So I'm still looking for an opportunity to display all the great combinations in something like an exhibition.

It's really incredible to see what goes into the making of your dioramas!  You definitely deserve the win!  :)

That close-up shot of the crocodile jumping out at the pteranodon is amazing!  Did you photoshop the splash or was that in in-camera trick?  It's seamless, however you did it.

I hope you can do your sauropod idea.  A whole herd of sauropods would be epic.

Excuse the little delay, I have seen your question just in this moment. The splash around the crocodile is pure Photoshop. Also the stand of the Pteranodon vanished only digitally. And yes, I hope too, I will find the time for the sauropod diorama.

Near to the next diorama contest it's time to look a year back to the last entry. Three hungry jaws of acrocanthosaurus atokensis in an ancient forrest are fighting for prey. A flock of raptors have still to wait. This was the idea and it worked not so well as estimated. The photo is not so brilliant and in the commentary to the contest just 'irimali' catch the point of view. Thank you 'irimali' for your subtile understanding.

This is a close-up from the center of the battle of the three.

What a mess for the unlucky Tenontosaurus...

The six Raptors have no chance to join the party.

And unseen in the background the Igguanodons run away from the site of crime .

And here the finish:

An overview in bird's eye view from the whole scene.

Shonisaurus

That favorite fukuisaurus diorama has been great for you. On the other hand, that confrontation between Rebor deinonychus and Rebor and Favorite acrocantosaurus is shocking. Hopefully you win the diorama contest although you will have a lot of competition with DTF members.

The above has been very good for you, especially, I highlight the favorite fukuisaurus herd and the acrocanthosaurus fight for the remains of the herbivorous dinosaur.

I always love your constructed worlds. Your throwaways are superior to my very best work.

Thank you all very much for this warm words.

The years of the Dinosaur Diorama Contest without nameable results have presented entries which didn't deserve a better placement. They are not perfect enough and don't touch the emotional point of the DTF Members. In this way I love the competition between all the participants, because this push me further. And I hope this works also in opposite direction.

You say a 'different league'. I have to say, dioramas are my main concern here – so I see me often as an mono-focussed specialist. The way how the protagonists of my dioramas should look are not for everyone common and sometimes a little bit take off. Some times ago I struggled in public with the cinematic style of Rebor, Papo and the clumpsy interpretations of Schleich. But at the end it's a question of taste. You can quarrel about it, but it's just a fun without substantial changes. Everyone put then his best known evergreens in the show case. And collect his favourites as before. And this is totally okay.

But it is always also a total personal struggle, fighting with the own expectations. Every year I try to start a bigger campaign but it isn't easy to keep the efforts in a suitable scale. There are some big ideas since four or five years which are too big, when I have to be smart to reach the goal. Nevertheless it's every time an undertaking to do the diorama just in time and every time are there some experiments or changes. Always short in time not everything works, when the deadline is near. So every time I take the one and only picture and see what is not working, see the space to improve it. When there was left more time I had to start fresh again. E.G. the flock of Coelophysis in the bottom of this posting don`t reach the contest due of time trouble.

In the other hand, so short in time, I'm also too didactic. When I planned the settings, there are always a lot protagonists with a lot of interactions and storytelling. A classic are the lost details in every diorama. Always is the question: need the motif a predator and a fight of life? The learning should say NO! The next trap is the presentation in a panoramic scenery. You have to zoom heavily into the scenery to see all the details but the resolution of a competition entry is limited to 1000 px. wide. Maybe the better strategy will be to choose a detail, a smaller scene like the running herd of Fukuisaurus members. Or some of the other alternate shots I show here in the making-of series.

I hope I will become wise in the next years and use the best 'throwaways' in the contest but not only here.

Here my contribution for the Dinosaur Diorama Contest 2019

The title of the thread is still correct, because this image is improved to the original entry. The month of the poll is enough time to see some issues. E.G. the crocs are now Papo-style, this is much better than a toylike Alligator from Schleich ;) Also the mountain line is fallen and the setting of contrast, colour and light is a little bit modified. This is done for my pleasure and I think, this would do no change, if the artwork would participate the contest in this configuration. The result of 36 votes is great and I thank everyone who liked the Amargasaurus with a flock of juveniles without any personal relationship.

Halichoeres

I voted for this one! You created a very evocative atmosphere.

That diorama with PNSO amargasaurus and those tapejara in the background looks great. I hope you win the urzeitshop prize someday (if you haven't won it yet). Magnificent dioramas.

Roarshots

Oooh I love these photos! There are so many details in it!

You had my vote!  Seeing your dioramas is always a treat.  It's like going back to the mesozoic and seeing dinosaurs in the wild.
