Dang!  That was a lot closer than I thought it would be!  Still, I picked the correct #1 choice....

Ikessauro

That outcome is definitely not what I was expecting. Anyway, congrats for the winners.

CityRaptor

Looks like I only got the Winner right. And some other surprises as well.
Congratulations to the Winners!
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

FUTABA

The winner was in my top 5, and the other 4 I chose got plenty of votes too, so some of those will be getting prizes aswell. Pretty fair outcome I think.
I really really like blue things.

DinoToyForum

Congratulations to the winners!

In first place, with 42 votes, is Diorama 8, Three angry chicks at work, by federreptil

In second place, with 36 votes, is Diorama 2, The lost world, by Pangolinmoth

In third place, with 26 votes, is Diorama 13, Sic semper tyrannis, by Dinomike

[Honourable mentions to come...]

I'll be in touch with the winners soon via email to arrange selection and dispatch of the prizes.

The contest was very close, in fact every single entry received at least one vote! So congratulations to everyone, and thanks to all the entrants (and voters) for making this the biggest contest yet. And thanks, of course, to Safari Ltd, for sponsoring us.

Balaur

I didn't vote for the winner, but I am not upset, just surprised. Congrats to federreptil!

Congratulations to all the winners! I voted for all the winners  ;D It was a fun contest and really impressive diversity of styles. It would be interesting to see who made what ;) Congratulations again to all the winners and also the top five!

I didn't vote for two of the winners. I too am surprised by the results but congrats to all. I knew my entry was not gonna make it but I'm happy that I did get some votes. Mine was #22, "Theropod Showdown".

CityRaptor

Mine was 26 "Desert of the Titans".  I knew aswell that I was not gonna win, but I wanted to know how far I would come with a Diorama made in 15 minutes ( which was due to lack of time, not due to lazyness ).  In case you wonder: I did manipulate the pic on my computer, but only the "weather",  there are indeed 10 Apatosaurus Good Luck Minis used in this shot.

My second favourite one won, so I am quite happy with the results! This was a great contest!

sauroid

That was yours? I really liked that one. It really did look like someone just stumbled upon a sleeping dinosaur and snapped a picture.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it but there are a few entries that I feel did surprisingly well for reasons I'm not quite sure of. I don't want to point out which ones they were but a couple did better or as good as some of the other more ambitious entries. The voting process is something I may never understand.  :-\

I agree with you Gwangi, there are some I really did not expect to get so many votes and they did, while the ones I thought would do very well on the contest got only a few votes.

postsaurischian

:)  My favourite (and probably the most professional) one won ... well done. Congratulations to everybody!

Georassic

congratulations to the winners! The winner really is nice work.

Clearly, I have a lot to learn, since my first entry (#27) brought up the rear.  :)) At least I didn't vote for myself, so thank you to the two who did!  :)

amargasaurus cazaui

Thought I would say congratulations to all of the winners for such excellent entries. For myself time to start planning next year's attempt. Definitely surprised at some of the voting but happy my entry got what votes it did.....(grandeur) I was able to vote for two entries that placed in the top three. I always enjoy looking over the entries and seeing what new ideas people bring to life. My own personnal favorite was "Cruel Seas" and I felt it should have gone higher.....whoever created that piece did alot of work !!!

Georassic

Amargasaurus, you got my "#1" vote. I thought "Grandeur" was a beautiful and realistic-looking photo.

That is what make the whole voting so unpredictable ;D I voted for all the winners, but not necessarily in the final winning order ;)
My own piece, its # 19 - Fatal Attraction fell short ;D I was hoping it would do better, but surprise! LOL ;D Thanks for those 21 who voted for mine ;) Somehow, I have I feeling that my rejects would have done better ;D

amargasaurus cazaui

Very kind words Georassic To be fair, the dinosaur in the picture is a resin model both sculpted, built and painted by Bob Morales. I commissioned the piece from him and he deserves the credit for the appearance of the dinosaur. To this day he uses stock photos of my commission to market the dinosaur model on Ebay as he was quite happy with it . I myself love the subtle "Giraffe" reference in the paint scheme.
Did you have an entry Geo?
Boki !!!! I was very close to voting for your entry and remembered something. In last years entries I used that same theme, a Carnotaurus charging an Amargasaurus. While my diorama relied on a resin Amargasaurus, and Carnegie Carnotaurus, the two were quite similar. When I asked for critiques on the work  Gwangi I believe commented that it might be central to some people in their voting to use animals that were within the same time periods. (And that is not an exact quote but he did offer that thought)As the one dinosaur was early Cretaceous and the other late Cretaceous, I remembered that lesson and selected another choice. That being said I loved the pose, the dynamics and just the general feel of your model. Looking at the picture I Kept wondering what the next frame would show...did the Carnotaurus fall to its death on the narrow slippery edge or lodge itself on the spined back of the sauropod....it is a gorgeous piece Boki.

Yes, it was me that said something along those lines. Looking at the results however I'm not so sure my assumption was correct. Personally I prefer dioramas that show animals that lived together, that to me is part of what makes a diorama. That said, one of the winners this year has two animals that did not live together so...who knows. Of course my entry tied with number 38 so I apparently have no idea what potential voters are looking for. Like last year, I put way too much thought into this.
