ZoPteryx

Awesome!!! :o  Does the lower jaw move?

Weaver

@Zopteryx: Yes it does! Because it sits a little short on my face I have a pair of brads to make the jaw mobile and another pair with rubber-bands to make the movement match my mouth. I know the lower jaw is a little wonky but dagnammit, I love it. I scared so many guys and gals when I opened my mouth. <3

Weaver

Okay folks, I need some help from you all. I entered a Halloween Costume Contest at my school and voting is done on Facebook with 'Likes'. This is a terrible picture of the costume https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151318246510628&set=a.10151318242840628.545992.140846075627&type=1&theater but if you could do me the favor of liking it I would be really greatful. I will get better pictures later but this is the picture the cafeteria wants 'Likes' tallied on.

Thank you again DinoToyBlog Forum members!

Himmapaan

But... why do you have pronated hands?!  :o ;D

Weaver

Because I am a JP Velociraptor. ;) Heehee! I was going to do the proper hands but... I ran out of time. I can and will promise that I shall have a better version of this (including a nice skeletal tail, feet and hands) soon.

Gryphoceratops

Nice mask.  You got my vote!

There is actually a company that makes masks with movable jaws.  Very lifelike actually.  They are called "ani-motion" or something (i actually own the werewolf, its surprisingly comfortable and not hot as well).  Maybe you could look at one of those to get an idea of the mechanics and apply it to your dino head.

Weaver

Thank you so much Gryphoceratops! That means a lot of me.

I scared so many people and I unfortunately scared a little girl at the local Chipotle-restaurant. So, I knelt down and had a friend bring her over to 'pat' the dinosaur. Suddenly, she loved me. I asked her if she liked dinosaurs and she said "I do now!"

At the college, I was just walking to the cafeteria and these three boys are eyeing me up. I open the jaw and they freak out. Mind you, these were big-burly-football players. I then did my head-tilt and 'raptor-call'. Scared em into the dorms. XD

Only one person, dressed in safari-gear came up to me and said, "Clever girl." Best reaction.

And folks please 'like' this photo for me. I would love to win that cash-prize they are awarding. $50 for 1st, $40 for 2nd, and $30 for 3rd. Right now, I'm in third. Boost me up to second and I will buy so many dinos you won't believe it.

Update on the contest I was in! I won 3rd place and thank you to all of you who voted for me. That was amazing and now I have a few extra meals on my college meal-plan. More coffee for finals week. XD

Thank you so much folks. You were amazing. I will hopefull be posting some of the things I worked on this semester soon for you. I have to admit that my new favorite color-scheme analogous with a complimentary accent (orange, red-orange, red, and blue-green) looks really good on pterosaurs and kinda-desertish scenes.

So this is my favorite of the two compositions I did as part of my final. The other composition has Quagga's in it.

This one is gouche and we had to use a color scheme for most of the piece. I chose analogous (yellow-orange/orange/red-orange) with a complimentary accent (blue-green).

Old version raw from camera/colors not fixed to show as they do in reality

Fixed Colors version

I really wanted this to show how much I enjoy illustrating paleoart. This forum has made me want to do this as a career someday. I can almost see this as a mural on a museum wall or in a magazine/journal. Animals depicted are Hatzegopteryx, Quetzacoatlus, Tupuxuara, Nyctosaurus, and some (oddly big) Rhamphorhynchus on their way to places unknown. Nothing is terribly accurate but I hope you all like it.

I'm proud of it.

Gryphoceratops

Neat style.  I like the perspective you took with it.

ZoPteryx

Amazing work, I can totally see that being featured in a book about pterosaurs. :)

Himmapaan

That's beautiful, Liz. Really lovely complementary colours.

Weaver

@Gryphoceratops: Oh gosh, I was originally going to do it from the bottom looking up but... this is neater. <3

@Zopteryx: If I did this again, it'd be a two-page spread and it'd be smack dab in the center of a book. ;) Do you by any chance a have book on pterosaurs in the works Zopteryx?

@Niroot: Oh gosh thank you! I love any color-scheme that I can include red-orange and blue-green in. It's my new favorite complimentary pairing.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I have to admit to loving those color combinations myself.. :)

Jetoar

I think the same friend, the combination of colors is amazing  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

@Blade: If you make another pterosaur.... ;)
@Jetoar: Thank you! My professor thinks that the current curriculum lacks information of color theory so... they made us learn it. I have to admit that it is incredibly helpful.

I wish!!! :))  I have thought about it though, but it just seems that too many pterosaurs are known from just scanty remains to be useful.
