Dinosaur Toy Blog - questions and suggestions

Don't kill me for suggesting this....but I was wondering if maybe it would be possible for more than one review to be posted per figure on the blog...?
At the moment we have only one review per each figure. Perhaps we could have other people reviewing a toy to show differences of opinion.

Just as it is done in a fair and balanced way of course ^-^

EDIT: I just realised this is posted in the wrong place. Please forgive me mods :(

+1 for you tyantqueen!

Hereby your post does explain it a lot better and I still am thankful for your post!

So yaps! I do find this a fabulous idea , like comparing the Papo Sinosaurus with the Carnegie Spinosaurs for example?
This way you can review both, but also compare both ;) And this way such multiple reviews can have a much greater meaning and interest 8)

Don't worry everyone posts something by accident  ;D But that does not change my thoughts of my likes for your fabulous idea ;) ^-^ *orthocone*

N.B. I've split this new topic from the "New forum - questions" thread.

To answer the original question, Tyrantqueen, a figure can be reviewed more than once on the blog. So long as the new reviews have something new to say. This has happened, although usually just because the original review was very brief.

As you say, different reviewers will have different opinions, so it would be interesting to compare reviews 8)

The old green one? Yes, there is already a review of it. The blog has a contents page you can look through if you're wondering if a review exists or not. You could also use the search function too. That is what I do when I'm looking to write a review, I search to see if one already exists. On occasion I just look through the contents and see if there is a figure I have that is missing, then I know I can review it.

But she can do her Papo Tylosaurus and the Canregie Safari Mosasaurus :P
Go for it Rexie! ^-^ ;D

Takama

I Kinda liked that there was only one review per figure, with the excepions being the earliest reviewd figures. However i would suggest makeing little link tabs that can be clicked on, atop of the review

Example

CollectA Velociraptor, Review 1 review 2
Review one is selected so its review is shown

Velociraptor is a true staple when it comes to dinosaurs, it has appeard in countless books and media which incendently causes almost every toy companey to produce one at some point in their lifetime

but almost every one of  those velociraptor toys would usuly turn out to be nothing but a scalley incarnation inspired by the film Jurrasic Park resulting in an emabresing lack of evdence that shows that thsese companeys

tempeted to do any research besides watching the film to see its raptors in the flesh. A good example of this would be CollectAs earliest reconstruction of the famous reptile.

CollectA Velociraptor Review 1 Rview 2
now review 2 is selected and so now its is shown

(a second review or any review dose not yet exist for this model)

does my explanation seem clear?
if so what do you guys think?

(PS  did i mention that im working on the CollectA Standerd sized Velaciraptor?)

Gwangi

I also like one review per figure but if multiples were to be done I think Takama's suggestion would be the best way to do it. I don't know how you would do that though.

tyrantqueen

I like your idea Takama. I was kinda thinking along the lines of this-

CollectA Velociraptor
Review 1 by (insert username here)
Review by 2 (insert username here)

The word "review" would be a hyperlink

Guess it's up to the moderators and DTF to choose the best course of action, if they deem it fit :P

QuoteBut she can do her Papo Tylosaurus and the Canregie Safari Mosasaurus
I would like to do the Papo Tylosaurus...but I'm afraid that if I said something even remotely positive about the figure, I'd get chewed out.
It's kinda like people want the toy to fail, y'know? I do realise it is very, very flawed...but surely it's good as a retro replica? *shrug*
I wanna put it with the Favorite Oldies statues (particularly the Crystal Palace Iguanodon), it'll look nice. Just as soon as I get paid *rubs hands together and cackles* :D

I think this forum itself serves very well as a platform for differing opinions on figures; that's the very heart of its purpose.  ;D What's more, the comments section on each review provides plenty of opportunity for further discussion and exchanges. Opening up the possibility for more than one review means we could just end up with counter-review after counter-review if many people find they disagree, and these subsequent counter-reviews may have no real content to offer other than an establishment of difference of opinion. I think one review per figure makes for good clarity and accessibility on the blog. I find the reviews are generally of such quality these days that many of them do point out the varied opinions as reflected by forum members. :)

stoneage

Well you know there is a section after the reviews where people can make comments.  There you can agree or disagree with the review and give your opinions.

Well as likes go, they are very personal to me and I like the Papo Tylo too it's indeed the retro feel it has as for them Cristal Palace Dino's, I am glad I made one of your dreams come true by finding a place that sells those beauties my friend
They do look very demanding and I understand why you adore them so much, they give you that classical feel of back then hehe, yeah retro stuff rocks all them way I'm like :)

Hmm...those are good points. It was only suggestion :) Just trying to think of ways to keep the forum/blog fresh and innovative and all that  :P

Gwangi

If there are positive aspects about the figure than there is no problem with pointing them out. Just make sure you point out what makes the figure scientifically inaccurate also.

Oh, of course, and a very welcome suggestion it was, too.  :D I should add that I've no real objections to multiple reviews, only an opinion as to my own preference. :)

DinoToyForum

TyrantQueen, you are most welcome to submit a Papo Tylosaurus review. I'd be happy to proof read it :)

Tylosaurus

And if you need help Tyrantqueen, just feel free to ask me anytime 8)

tyrantqueen

Thanks! I think I'd be uncomfortable if you didn't proof read it.  ;D

And Tylosaurus, you know about tylosauruses right...? XD
