I understand. I have also been quietly, patiently observing the Camara on Dan's website for over a year.  8) Then, suddenly, I decided to strike! Do I have the money to spend on this? No. Did that fact stop me? No.  >:D

I tell ya, when it rains it pours. I come home to find an unexpected visitor.

Shane Foulke's 1/20-scale Camarasaurus.

Very nice! I really need to pick this one up!

Paleogene Pals

Well, Jason, he he, funny story on that! I wanted to ship the Camara to Martin for build up and paint. Wire seemed to have gotten crossed however. Two copies of the Camara kit were shipped out from the producer, one to me and one to Martin. Dan from Dan's Dinosaur informed of that yesterday. So, essentially, I went from being the owner of the Camara kit currently at my house to being a caretaker until someone decides to buy it. Basically, it breaks down like this, anyone who wants this kit can contact Dan's Dino about purchasing it. The buyer pays Dan for the kit plus shipping. Then, I ship to the buyer once Dan gives me the OK to do so.

I would like to wait until Martin gives me confirmation that he has received MY Camara kit.

So, whoever wants this kit, let Dan's Dinosaur know and pay and set up the arrangements with him.

I'm interested. I'd have to wait until payday next week, though :-X

Dobber

How much does Martin usually charge for a build and paint? How do you contact him?

TQ, let Dan know, and I can contact him too. For me, no rush, if you are serious, I can hold onto the kit until you are ready to pay. I cannot speak for Dan though. But, I'm sure he would be accommodating. Let me know what Dan says. BTW, you will not be disappointed it is a wonderful work of art.

Also, next week works for me too because that gives my kit time to reach Martin. That way, I have absolute confirmation that he received my copy of the Camara.

Dobber, I can PM you Martin's addy. As for price, it depends on the size of the piece and how much work needs to be done. I will tell you this. I have found that Martin's rates are extremely low. IMHO, I don't know how he can operate with such low prices. For some of my pieces, I think the cost of shipping was more than the cost of buildup. The most I have paid for a build up so far, not counting shipping, is a little over 50 GBP.  Considering that you are getting back a work of art, these prices are very reasonable.  :)

Please do send me his address, I have a few Dino's I'd like to have painted up and am having trouble doing it myself. Thanks!

Ooh thats to bad
Not every one has paypal
Just to clarify, the item I just linked to was another Camara from a different seller. You can buy another Camarasaurus from there.

Also, I don't want to sound rude, but I made an offer before anyone else did. I've already talked to Dan and hopefully I'm going to buy PP's extra Camara. Just saying :-X

Paleogene Pals

TQ, Dan informed me that you plan on going ahead with the purchase. I can PM you with more details. I think the eBay seller is the producer of this kit that Shane was commissioned to do. My Camara came from St. Louis, and the eBay seller is in St. Louis. I don't buy kits from eBay anymore because of recasting issues. I buy either direct from the artist (several of which I'm getting to know pretty well) or Dan's Dinosaurs. Plus, if there is a problem, I know that Dan or the artist will be there. But, like I said, the eBay seller is the kit producer...I think.

On Dan's site, the Camara lists for $250 not including shipping. But, I ordered from Dan because he can ship to Martin for paint and build.

Sorry Jason, TQ did make a specific offer first and contacted Dan as well. No worries, talk to Dan and see what he can do.

Is everyone getting the vibe that I am highly recommending Dan's Dinosaurs?

It's all good. I was wondering more about pricing for it. I have to save all me money to cast my 1/15 Camptosaurus first. After that hopefully I will have the cash to pick one up.

Paleogene Pals

Thanks Jason, I now read it as more of a general inquiry. BTW, I almost have all the spines back on your Armarga. All I have to do is a little retouching of the damaged areas and good to go! Until your next 1/20 model...

Nice! Can't wait to see it! I would like to paint the next 1/20th you buy from. I believe my paint skills are getting to a place where I can offer build up/painto up service.

Jason, I got plenty to send ya.  ;D

nice! I have to do what I can to make a little money in this hobby, because the wife says I can't buy model kits with the family money, lol!

Paleogene Pals

Well, my bank says I can't buy anymore dinos. But, it's not like they know how much money I got or something.  ;) I have a Bob Morales tylosaur that needs some help. I want to add a tail fluke to update it and get it painted according to the latest ideas. There are also some seams that I attempted to fill but failed miserably. PM me and let me know what you think.

Paleogene Pals

My latest acquisition, a 1/20-scale Camarasaurus lentus from TD models. The sculptor is none other than Shane Foulkes. Martin built and painted it. He also made the base for it. Sorry for the picture quality, a bit rushed taking photos.

A group shot of all of my built and painted sauropods

I wonder if the Camara is a little bit out scale compared to the SS Apato.
