BOOM BOOM VOLCANO! That shot just blew me away! I'd never risk putting one of my models that near to an explosion D:

Great shot! I often wonder what I would do if I saw a silhouette like this pass under my kayak. I am pretty sure I might drop some ballast if you know what I mean ;)

Meso-Cenozoic

These are delightful, triceratops83! Not only do you have a good eye for composition, but also a great sense of humor! The Kinto Favorite Feathered T. rex in with the birds in the cage made me chuckle out loud. :))

Triceratops vs. Cows is my favorite! :)) LOL ;)
like a bantha!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!
Tyto_Theropod - My friends and I used to blow up things on camera quite often, so I'm pretty experienced with "amateur pyrotechnics". Admittedly, though, the toy was pretty hot afterwards...
Doug Watson - Lol! Although I think I'd still rather see that than a shark or crocodile.
Meso-Cenozoic - Thanks! I try to go for a realistic look but can't seem to pass up silliness. I think the finches were fond of that rex.
alexeratops - Heh, heh. I reckon the way cows are, if you put a Triceratops amongst them, they'd all just follow it around.

I didn't have anything planned soon to post here, but I just took this photo and I'm amazed at how clear it turned out! Aside from cropping the bottom off the photo and resizing it I haven't modified it at all. I never knew you could take such clear photos of the night sky!

Very atmospheric :)

Thanks, it was a bit of a surprise.
I'm working on something different at the moment, hopefully I will be able to post some pictures on the weekend.

Thought I'd try something different...
Here's a blurry cryptozoological photo.

I hid behind a tree to get a photo.

Looks like a Maiasaura.

Eating a palm frond.

It's getting used to my presence - I can get pretty close. It honked at me once I got within a couple metres.

After a while it headed back into the jungle.

I really like this - that's a very good painting, I love the colour scheme. Did you do it yourself? Anyway, that really inspired me. I've been thinking of doing some 'paperchild' type stuff for a while, but for some reason I never really thought of doing dinosaurs. This is really original!

Thanks! I can't wait to see what you come up with! This has been a really inexpensive hobby. The problem with having nice scenery for backgrounds is that you lose it to focus on the small toy/model in the foreground. Solution - big dinosaurs. This Maiasaura is 160cm, so about 1:5 scale. All I do is zoom in on a photo or skeletal from Scott Hartman, trace over the computer screen, scrolling around to use different sheets of paper until I have the right proportions. Then I organise them on a panel of fibre board (they cost $4) and draw the animal around them, filling in the gaps and details. Then just cut it out with a coping saw and snips.

I'll not use white again, too bright. And the dolls eye wasn't a great idea. I didn't do a great job of shading. Any tips on painting?

DRUNK DINOSAURS!!!
Here's a couple of Lorikeets who have spent the afternoon eating fermented mangoes in the backyard. They're really friendly birds and will eat from your hand. The next time I need to paint a model Triceratops, I will use their colours.

Ha! Exactly. They go nuts that time of day. And make a mess of cars parked under trees in town. We took care of one after it hurt its' wing, and let me tell you, they are quite the little characters.

We don't get them in the wild here in Scotland (I'd be pretty excited if I saw one when I was out birdwatching, put it that way XD), but they did have them in Edinburgh Zoo for a while. They had a lovely big enclosure which was basically a room they were flying free in, which you walked through. You could buy little cups of nectar and they'd land on your hand to get it. They definitely had attitude - one once landed on my mother's hair (which she put up in a bun) and she refuses to go near the place, even though nowadays it's a small aquarium! I'm afraid I wasn't much help - I just stood there laughing, something I still do when I think about it!  :))

Heh, heh. The one we took care for a while had the run of the house. He would play with everything - I remember him constantly pulling threads out of the couch. The wild ones LOVE bread dipped in straight cordial. And when they expect to be fed they line up on the railing at the back door and squawk until they get their cordial bread.
