Lovely figures, and such a diversity. Good ol' Thrasher T-Rex...

There are only few cave bear figures on the market so the new Papo is really welcome:

Pliosaurus "Dory" by Tony Hitchcock for the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery UK:

The quite long Collecta Basilosaurus:

Probably the Collecta Dimorphodon will be repainted soon...

That's all for today (but I have more to show you soon..  ;) ).

Terrific photos, as usual; first clear look I've had at Papo's Cave Bear. Still on the fence about a purchase with this one, 'cause as someone else said it's still just kind of a bear. My Pliosaurus arrived two days ago and of course I had to do something about the eyes! It now has smaller round orange eyes with a black pupil, which tie in with the colour of the teeth and make it look much more naturalistic. Pity about all the joins in its construction but I guess these things were made for a certain price point and the production techniques reflect that.

Thanks for the kind words.

"Dory" is more a collectable from an expo than a figure to me so I don't care about joints and head; but I quite like it "as it is".
Of course there are better pliosaurus figures on the market (and in my collection).

About Papo Cave Bear... well, Ursus Spelaeus wasn't so different from modern bear in the first place  (just more massive):

( Ursus arctos is the extant one )

The main problem is that other's cave bear figures on the market are just sloppy..  ???

Schleich

Bullyland

Geoworld

So if you are a cenozoic figures collector, the Papo one is actually your best choice..

...that one or the Jose Miguel Aparicio resin model (pricey):

What do you think?

I'm sure that I'll get the Papo Bear, as you have so clearly demonstrated there is no competition between it and what else is out there and it will display well with the steadily growing Prehistoric Mammal collection that is slowy expanding at one end of my display area. I have been going for the more naturalistic and less stylised (for want of a better word) depictions of the various animals, though I am a sucker for Mammoths! The eyes are the only parts of 'Dory' that I will touch. I know it has collectable value but I have no plans to sell it. Thanks for taking the trouble to put together the 'bear' facts.

...on Ebay, thanks to Dr. Admin :

Clearly it's an interpretation based on Collecta Liopleurodon but on a larger scale:

The Chasmosaurus and baby have come out very well.  The gold/brown is a good combination.
