According to the Wikipedia article, there are Wyvern who can spit fire. They are also called Fire Drakes.

They are distant cousins of dragons but they are not dragons. I think it's a common fantasy trope that dragons consider wyverns to be inferior to them. Of course, fantasy is a constantly evolving/changing genre so nothing is set in stone.
