QuoteNew pictures of the Zuniceratops on Instagram, it's looking really good https://www.instagram.com/p/BiCU6GKlLcR/

Yep, the Zuniceratops looks really good.

David has also posted the coloration of Centrosaurus. I want to see paint on the animals before I chose which ones to get, but I'm really liking this one. I'm liking how he's colouring the horns and not just making them white or brown.

Minmiminime

Ooh, I hadn't spotted that :)) I love the fact he's using bright colours, these figures will be very striking

Has anyone brought up the issue of ceratopsian tarsal scutes with David yet? I just noticed them in the final pic with the latest backer update on the raptors. As far as I'm aware no ornithischians have these in cases where they would be preserved. Kulindadromeus, Psittacosaurus, Saurolophus all lack bird-like tarsal scutes, with regular pebbly pavement scales covering the hands and feet.

Maybe it was a stylistic choice? I haven't seen them on the others, so maybe it was just added to help differentiate the figures a little more?

It looks like they're also present on the Zuniceratops pictured a few posts back. I think he's just inadvertently copying an incorrect common paleoart meme.

Tarsal and carpal scutes on non-avialan dinosaurs, I think. You can read more about it here: DinoGoss | You're Doing It Wrong : Dino Foot Scales

Maaannn...I hate saying this, but I think the one downfall of this line is the stands.  The one I had on my Zhenyuanlong barely fit and when I had to re-position it on the raptor, it snapped.  Either pegs or an actual clamp would be better...these tiny clips on the pelvis are too fragile.  And for some of these, they have to be too small, if my Zhen is any indication. :(
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Someone posted about this on his Xeno sculpt post and he said it was an easy fix :)

Here's a look at the colored Diabloceratops concept art:

I really like how this one looks. It has a pretty magma/firey look to it, which is probably appropriate given the name. I wonder what reptile(s) this one was based off of.

Maybe the colour scheme isn't based on a reptile's.  In the image with the colour inspirations for this series, there's an amphibian I think it could be: https://www.facebook.com/BeastSculptKit/photos/a.125819777433236.23596.113487525333128/2071071662908028/?type=3&theater

I forgot he was using amphibians for colors too. It very well could be the case. The rock agama there looks pretty similar to this one too.

Reminds me very much of the FC Pyroraptor. Still a very nice colour scheme :)

LeapingLaelaps

He said it's based on the peninsular rock agama (Psammophilus dorsalis) :)

Also reminder that I have a comprehensive document of all the ceratopsians, I keep it up to date with color information, etc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gZ27drlxHjJTEoX8POx0QLa7uAsxDPE8dgklmHlpVMA/edit?usp=sharing

First look at the Xenoceratops colors! I'm so incredibly excited for this line, I'm gonna need to start selling some stuff and saving up

Also yesterday I asked him if there's any way that the factory can use something sturdier to seal the paints to prevent wear/paint scuffs (what we were discussing on the last page) and this is what he said:

"We'll be paying very close attention to this with all items moving forward. It only seems to have affected certain figures in the initial batch, but from what I've been seeing more recently the factory looks to have figured out how to prevent it for the most part. For now though, if you have any chipped areas, I've found that markers actually work really well."

I think I'm gonna get some paint and fix up the scuffed areas on my raptors and try sealing them with this: https://www.amazon.com/Krylon-Colormaster-Crystal-Clear-Acrylic/dp/B0009X8LZ4/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&keywords=satin%20krylon%20colormaster%20acrylic&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&qid=1524008771&ref_=mp_s_a_1_fkmr0_1&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Another look at the Xenoceratops paint WIP:

This is looking really impressive so far. It's great to finally see that the first prototype for the ceratopsians line is on its way to being finished. Picking a couple of these is going to be hard down the road all things considered (two of which will be Styracosaurus and Protoceratops no doubt), if they all end up as beautiful as this one is.

That is beautiful work, it's already one of the most beautiful ceratopsian models I've ever seen. I guess he'll be kicking off the new campaign very shortly. It won't be long until the 'raptor orders are fulfilled, then he'll be free to do so ;D

I'm so so so glad he's actually doing something interesting and unique for their colors, and not just a bland ugly brown/green like most other companies do
