Glad I could help in a small way but in the end it was your work that got you in.

Thank you bud. I'm glad others enjoy what I do , even other paleo-artists , the same way I enjoy their work. I hope I'm inspiring others as well..received a couple emails already on how I create them..so may be. lol

If your ever near here I hope you get the chance to stop by and visit us.
If I am ever in the area I wouldn't miss it.

We just started planning out our Apatosaurus and clearing the ground for her....and our marine reptile exhibit.

Here's the rough sketch of the head, I'll draw in better lines tonight then cut it out and start figuring out the width and such.

We'll be taking donations for her starting August 1st, my ballpark estimate is 2,000.00 for everything. For comparison our T-Rex Stan was around 1500.00 .

Better not have her run around your vegetable garden! Can't wait to see this project! :D

Blade, don't take this wrong, i love your work and i am amazed of you trying to make such a big beast but... why make this guys's mouth open? Most of your animals have it already? Do you think it makes them look more alive? More "dynamic"? Most animals are relaxed, with the mouth closed, most of the time. Don't take it wrong, please!

Blade-of-the-Moon

Too true.   I couldn't find a better skull image that Scott's but even on the print out we did it's only 2" long.  I've made some alterations to the sketch and cut it out.  This girl will be closer to 60' I think but her head is only 2' long and a 1' wide...thank goodness. These big heads, Rex and Trike, were doing me in.

Not at all. There are several reasons, to show off the teeth to guests so they can see what sort it had, it appears to be " roaring " and we have sound effects of sauropods bellowing in the park so that would work, it almost feels like a cop-out to me to not do a detailed mouth you know ? It's the way Scott has it portrayed on his skeletal and it looks cool too.

Animals can have their mouths open as well..yawning, eating, ect.. this girl will be near our new play area for kids sort of watching over them..so maybe she's saying " be careful! " ?

I do have plans for closed mouthed ones though..Our Giganotosaurus when I build him will have a closed mouth as he's resting after a kill.

Yutyrannus

You're doing a Giganotosaurus? Awesome! So when you say resting, do you mean he will be lying down? Also, for the mosasaur exhibit, I really think it would look best like this:

"The world's still the same. There's just less in it."

Good reasons. And allowing people to see the teeth makes total sense!

Laying or sitting. I'm not sure if I want dozing while sitting up or laying down with maybe pterosaurs picking his teeth for him. Either way this will be a couple years off so we have time to plane.

I've seen those pics..they look awesome..but not as thrilling as I would like and I hate to say it a bit on the expensive side to create.  We really need more donations to be honest.   Right now I'm planning a sea cave grotto area..we'll see if even that's possible.  Still deciding on just how much of each creature to build and what size.

I can see how a closed mouth one would be more serene too..maybe we can do that for the baby Apato I want to add or the 20' tall Diplodocus later on.

Thanks guys, i'll have painted pics tomorrow!

I have one more Raptor to finish in the next couple days and then we're done!

Takama

With this many Velociraptors I don't think you'll have enough room for other Dromaeosaurs

lol they're all contained in one enclosure at the least. We do have the " Utahraptor " and I hope to add a true Deinonychus at some point. They're pretty small so we have space for em'! Just wish they weren't all feathered already! lol

I also try to make each one a little different ..to bring out their character ( thank you Ricardo Delgado ) .
