Kids will love that, and you could do plaster moulds of bones or eggs to bury in the sand pit for 'em to dig up.

You know we already have a whole building for that in our DIG IT! dig site..lol

It's hard coming up with new things for em' to do. I figured this one has a ranger them, bags of dino feed, telescope to keep an eye out...that sort of thing.

I hope we get enough donations to make it look really cool. The more we get the more we can do. Me and my buddy do all the labor free just need funds for the materials..takes a bit to keep the park going.

You must need a map to get around that place!
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Wow, I got behind on the Apato progress pics due to Xmas and all. Congrats on getting her head on! She's looking more impressive already just by adding the head. How much longer do you guesstimate before she's completed and painted?

I don't ever remember seeing your map. That is way cool and nice and professionally done too!

I like getting the heads on..really makes you strive to get the rest. ;)  We're aiming to have all the vinyl/skin work done in January/February. The paint will have to wait til we have a streak of 50-60 degree weather..probably March/April.

lol I just sketched it up and scanned it in, then I tweak via Paint..nothing too fancy but thanks for saying so!

Here's the one for 2015:

Meso-Cenozoic

Aha, the addition of Terrors of the Deep! I was wondering where that was going. How much land do you have to play with? It looks like quite a bit of acreage!

triceratops83

Excellent! Rivals Isla Nublar!

lol as a kid I always imagined dinosaurs here, even played with my dinosaur toys around this area a lot.

My grandfather who is allowing us to build here has 13 acres, now various relatives live here as well and I sort we've between them and fence it off so it's hard to tell where you are other than a prehistoric park...lol  We do hope to continue off into the woods from the Apatosaurus, that will be to the right of her and the Terrors of the Deep exhibit. So I'll need a another sheet for the map at that point..or a front/back deal.

Sounds really good, actually. Good progress on the Apatosaurus. Just one thing, out of curiosity rather than a real critique: did you build her in this static pose out of construction reasons? I feel like she is lacking a bit of life from a sense of motion, if you know what I mean. Can't wait for the Stego, though, that one will be great!

Yes. We don't use steel and wood is most supportive when you can place it across form other pieces aligned the same way. Keep everything nice and level so it will hopefully stay up. If we had used supports on the neck and tail we might have been able to make something a little more dramatic..of course then we would be constructing faux trees again under it for support and we really wanted to avoid that.  The scene that will be shown here should still work, I'm adding two juveniles in different poses and she's bellowing out a warning to guests ( protective mom ). Prior to that she was probably eating..so a neutral pose would be good for being stationary, just letting the neck do the work.  Yes, I did just make that up in my head to support the whole thing.. hopefully it's not too flimsy.. ;) lol

fabricious

Sounds totally legit. Now I'm curious for the whole scene! ;)

Haha, that made me chuckle a bit out loud! But at the same time, totally believable! 8)

Hopefully it all works out the way I have it in my head. Sometimes you never know til you give it a go.

Kathy's skin progress.

Littlefoot our first juvenile Apatosaurus.

The picture of the big one looks a bit like a car wash. :D

What colour scheme are you going to go with?  Amazing how far this has come.

Reading up on the progress in your garden always gives me a happy feeling. It's just too darn nice all!

I can already see how adorable that baby's going to be!
