The little Apato turned out great!

I know it would be a little more time-consuming and a bit more material, but what would you think about tapering out the scales around the mouth and the ones above the eyes. Not much. Just 2 or 3 more rows that would taper out into the skin. They wouldn't even have to be fully complete rows. Just to give a suggestion that there are other scales beyond those more prominent ones. Just a thought. (As if you need more to think about. ;) LOL!)

And Ed's head's coming along really nicely too. I think it's a very believable profile. :)

Thanks!

Yeah I could have done that, but not anymore I'm afraid. One the paint is on there additional vinyl/epoxy won't stick to the surface, just the paint. Then it will fall off taking the paint with it.  I do appreciate suggestions we just have to get them in before I'm at a " done" stage you know? lol

Cool, the Edmontosaur's head needs a little shaping up in the back then it's ready for skin, but I will probably shelve it for now. Just making heads and such while there is weather too cold for me to be out in. I don't want to get sick like I did last year.

Thanks bud.

The Mosa is at a standstill until I can get some hardware for it.  Our funds have also been a bit limited, trying to do too much at once I suppose. My goal now is to finish the Apatosaurus area ( which includes the adult/two juveniles/Dinosaur Park Rangers play area) by Spring/March.  The Terrors of the Deep may open in May/June then. All of that requires a plethora of things, we need gravel for paths , around 4 tons which is about 100.00 a ton, we need signage, lighting, probably another 4-500.00 there..whew..the funds we raised at the haunt are just about gone too. So yeah long reply to that one sentence eh? lol Basically things are moving along at a fair pace..a few more bucks to grease the wheels of this train wouldn't hurt though if we could get it.

Wow what a big planning, seems very great its not as simple as i thought hahaha   :o good luck blade thumbs up im supporting you by pray  ;D

Blade-of-the-Moon

Thank you my friend.  Yeah it's not as easy as even I thought. There isn't near enough time to do what I want to do..build dinosaurs. Just me and my friend that works full time trying to do it all is rough. I do all advertising, planning, ect.. as well as try to build. I'm lucky breathing is an automatic function or else  I would surely forget to. lol

Takama

From what i seen, i can say, keep up the good work.

BTW Alright if i use some of the color schemes for species Prototypes(the ones i would get, and will show to promote the model, but everyone has there choice of colors) in the Takamsaurus Collection?

Blade-of-the-Moon

Sure go nuts bud. I picked up many of them from various sources too. lol

Takama

I thoght i ask, because of all the controversy of unaccredited Paleoart.   I asked some random person on Deviantart if i can base a Sauropod on a painting of his, and he was quick to decline

That's cool I appreciate it!

Now if you wanted to base figures on my exact sculpts then yeah I'd at least a credit and something for the Park to help us out maybe? Other than that I'm good bud. :)

Takama

Well I wont Be copying your sculpts exactly (at least not yet)   Just borrowing the color schemes for some of my models.   Though i have an idea on commissioning a Carnotaurus in the colors you made, but also with with the Torso of another individual.

Cool. As I said colors are just colors no biggie. If you wanna use the idea or the concept I have you can, I'll leave it up to you if you want to donate something to the Park for the inspiration, I'm not greedy or anything.  Maybe one day we could carry your line in our gift shop too.  :)

Oh right. Haha! I kind of figured that out after I posted. But I thought, let's just see what Chris comes back with. Hehe! It was more of a thought about future projects, anyway. And I think you probably already know this, but I totally meant nothing negative about how you were originally doing it. I was just looking at the little guy in awe and studying how you might have done some things and the thought just popped into my head. Granted it would be a perfect world if your good ides always came at just the right time. LOL! You're doing a great job. I find these progress pics of yours simply fascinating!

No hard feelings at all. It's a bit of an "ugh" moment when things are noticed too late, even by myself.  It's one reason I post a lot of progress pics if anyone sees anything that looks wrong or has an idea they can feel free to chime in. I used to get a lot of feedback during the process back on the old forum now just feels I'm going it on my own.  I am glad people like what they see, an artist's main goal should be to inspire others, I also aim to entertain and educate. We even build our pieces here in full view of the visitors so they can see how it's done too.

In regards to the Apato juvenile itself, I do agree smaller scales would have looked better now thinking about it. I actually debated even doing any at all..but mom has them so I figured the little ones should as well. They wouldn't be near so distracting if I could afford enough to coat the entire animal with it. ;) lol

Well yes. BUT, unfortunately artists have to be realists too. Ugh! :P  LOL!

You work with what you have...but as an artist it's our job to make things that seem impossible possible...with some help. ;)

Good looking Ceratosaurus. I don't like how a lot of restorations give it a Carnosaur type head, whereas if you shaved off the horns, you'd have a low narrow megalosaur type skull. This captures that perfectly. Still going with the red and black colouration?
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

After the Stego/Edmonto/Cerato.. can do..but not as large as the ones on our Stygimoloch...though a similar color scheme I suppose to tie them together.

Do you ever sleep? ;)

Cool. I based it off Scott's C. Nasicornis skeletal. No props for our first closed mouth theropod? lol
Color..yeah I'd like to do red and black..or orange and black..I had a temptation last year to do a medium sized theropod in all black minus maybe some color on the head..we'll see I have around a year to think about it.  :)

Sometimes, usually around 2am-11am give or take. Though I do dream about what I'm working on. lol

Definitely. And I think Ceratosaurus, with its' gargantuan fangs, is the perfect theropod to ah, "shut its' yap". It almost looks like a sabre tooth.

It's funny you say that as it was my first impression as well. Though recently I read that the fangs wouldn't have hung down so far..it's part of the incorrect way theropods are restored with the teeth hanging out of the sockets they should be recessed in to. That said they are long enough to stick out to me anyway..lips on these guys I don't see them covering the entire tooth and animals like sabretooth cats, do seem to have unlipped fangs.

I do hope I can get a good "creep" factor out of this silently eyeballing you from the woods he'll be in..  >:D
