I do hope I can get a good "creep" factor out of this silently eyeballing you from the woods he'll be in..  >:D

Is there any way he can be placed around a corner of a building or stand of trees, so that you're walking along the path and then suddenly, IT'S THERE? Just staring...

Actually, that made me think. Imagine a rest area with a bench, people can stop and sit, while above them is a low, thick canopy of palm fronds. Behind the foliage and above the bench, a manned model that can be pushed forward through the fronds, but not until after clear goo is dripped from a hose in the creature's mouth, like saliva. Visitor feels something drip onto their shoulder, they wipe it off and inspect it. "What the..."
They slowly look up to see something peering back, drooling and camouflaged. And then the realisation - this "exhibit" was not listed on the map...
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Blade-of-the-Moon

That's what I'm thinking..just gotta find the right spot..the woods are already there so I just have fix up the scene a bit.. ;)

That's a cool concept..can you imagine manning and resetting it though every day from 9am-9pm? lol Just a bit of my issues here. Could be simplified and done with a sensor..but the timing would be rough.  A friend of mine built something similar..had a herbivore feeding sign ..you pressed a button and this Rex head came over a wall roaring and gaping the lower jaw then pulled back.  not 100% sure what he used though..

Just saw you're making a Ceratosaurus. Very cool! You're going to have fun with that head!

You know, as a marketing strategy, it wouldn't be a bad idea to incorporate some of the animals that will be in JW that you don't already have. Kids will see that movie and then find out you have them there as well.... could possibly generate some new crowds! :D

Oh yeah..he actually hasn't been too bad, I coated it with spray foam today, just need to do some carving tomorrow. ;)

heh heh..yeah I had considered that... new Apatosaurus, new Mosasaur, upcoming Stegosaurus..  ;D Really hoping it does bring in more people..we have to advertise, advertise!

I was also thinking of making an I-Rex info sign like it's supposed to be in one area..but with it's camo abilities it's hidden aka not there really.. lol Have to see how it works in the film.

That's hysterical! But if I was still a kid, I might have gotten a little pissed off! LOL!! Maybe you could have its footprints all around the area and scratches on walls and such, and some mutilated dead animal carcass lying in a pool of fresh looking blood (hmm, maybe too much for littler kids?). And what would make it really cool if you would want him to seem like he's there but camouflaged, is have a recording of his roar go off when someone approaches. Haha! But you're right. Gotta see how it's actually done first.

Well it wouldn't be advertised or anything..just a small surprise when your here...I'm seeing " mom! They had an Indominus but it's loose somewhere! " lol

Blood and gore..I think I hit the nail on the head with the cannibal Carnotaurus. I've had parents turn back after getting a look at him with comments like " too scary for "insert kid's name"."

Maybe something we could do for Dino Park in the Dark instead? I'd have to get a good sample of his roar from somewhere.  I was going to do the missing goat from JP last year and just didn't have the time. We have to set up everything for friday and pull it down sunday all month.

We'll figure it out..I think it would be a fun tie in.

Just noticed...page 100! Wow, thanks everyone for commenting!

Now, Ceratosaurus foam work :

triceratops83

The shot looking down looks like he is munching some poor creature, with the arms sticking out. The claws look good, by the way.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Thanks man, they all still need to be coated..but at least this step is complete. :)

Trying to sketch out a Therizinosaurus head now.

Hey, I noticed page 100 too. Congrats! That means your work is being seen. And word of mouth is one of the best and cheapest ways of advertizing! Hehe!!

Cerato's head is looking good. And that shot from above also reminding me of arms of a poor victim sticking out of his mouth. In my sick demented head, a scenario popped in that had the brattiest kid stay behind long after his group had left and the park had been closed down for the night. He wanted to have fun with the dinos by himself and create some havoc. Unfortunately he didn't get very far, when this Ceratosaurus spotted him and had himself a midnight snack. LOL!!

Very true..and close to all we can afford! lol

That there would be a great idea for a short horror story..maybe teenager level? Something akin to Goosebumps.

There was a cheesy kids film called Invasion of the Robot Dinosaurs that was sort of similar..at least at the end.

Hey, those animatronic dinos didn't look too bad!

Hey, those animatronic dinos didn't look too bad!

I know some that don't like them, but these guys were REAL dinosaurs to me when I was a kid. My mom even volunteered to help move them in and out at local exhibits so I could tag along, shoot video and pics and see them REALLY up close.

I even made a fb page for the now defunct company that produced them : https://www.facebook.com/Dinamation

The ice age has struck..again:

Looks like the Apato doesn't hold too much snow :

Ugh, I've never seen snow and I hope I never do. Can it cause any damage to the models? I mean, can the weight of the snow threaten to break off extremities?
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

No issues as of yet. The parts that might break are usually so thin they can't hold enough snow to worry about.  I am checking for ice though..that's a bigger issue. It can melt and form long icicles that will build up weight.

Hope to painted pic of the plesiosaurs tomorrow. I'd doing details now and knocking out a young Therizinosaurus head.

I posted that video of the Dinamation dinos and it really had me nostalgic for em'..I was thinking how cool it would be to have those sound mixed in with the ones I already have in the park..the thing is..what sounds are they really?

You can hear them alright here in  a video I shot a couple years ago : https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=4226438295763&set=vb.1129456954&type=3

Blade-of-the-Moon

Therizinosaur  foam board base :

I say Therizinosaur because I haven't quite decided on Nothronychus or a young Therizinosaurus.  Opinions?

triceratops83

What about Segnosaurus? It used to be a popular dinosaur.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I can recall two mentions of Segnosaurus, William Stout and Bakker in Raptor Red but that's about it. Seems it's based on pretty fragmentary remains which is a similar problem in the rest of the group of animals. I really don't have enough references for it though..no one made figures of it and skeletals are outdated or non-existant. I think in terms of popularity Therizinosaurus topped the list. There are plenty of references for it. Nothronychus Scott Hartman has a good up to date skeletal of too..so I guess I'm sticking with either/or just to make it easier on myself and avoid some worry. heh

Blade-of-the-Moon

Guess who has their paint done....
