Thanks! I'm afraid it will likely be Spring before we get to paint her, assuming all the vinyl work is completed by then.

the head's a bit emaciated but i keep attributing it to the fact he's REALLY hungry...;)

Meso-Cenozoic

Hey, good luck with your Stego. Hope you get it protected well enough for the winter because it's looking pretty awesome. I really like the subtle little skin textures you've added to its face. Pretty cool!

Blade-of-the-Moon

Thanks bud! We just received another donation of vinyl today, I was using very small pieces and was sweating bullets til it came through..heh So hopefully we will have enclosed soon. I'll some pics later today of the progress so far.

Makes me glad I went ahead and started working on this Masiakasaurus.. ;)

Oh good! Stegie's on his way again!

Masiakasaurus? Have you posted any progress pics of this yet? Maybe I missed them.

Yep, weve made some good progress on her, if only the weather would hold out ..maybe it will be a warm winter? lol

You haven't missed anything, I had considered doing one before, but Doug's sculpt for Safari kinda got me going on it.  I just framed the head out last night, actually I'm rather surprised they are so small. But 6-7' they are closer to Velociraptor sized it looks like.

LophoLeeVT

is that the head of the masaikiasaurus?

Such as it is yes. just the rough foam base though.

Meso-Cenozoic

Wow, you've done a lot of progress on the Stego in such a short time! You've even added some paint to the head. Looks nice!

Ah yes, the Masiakasaurus. It surprised me too how small it actually was when I did some reading up on it after the WS 2016 figure news broke. But, it is an interesting figure, and should be kinda artistically fun to create! :)

Actually the orange there is just another color of the vinyl skin material we use. expect to see the back half that color soon...all the material we received today was orange too..lol

Very true, it's already been fun looking for references! I'm still deciding on the pose but I think I'll something different with the neck for this one.

Lanthanotus

Just made a virtual trip through your Park on Youtube (since Tennessee is a bit off for a drive by from my place :P) and I've to say it's amazing! Some, if not all of our dinosaurs are more realistic in design and pose than most you can see around the museums here. Would definetly visit your park when I once come to the US! Keep that great work up, Blade!

Thanks! I hope the trip some sense, the Park is laid out kinda weird..lol  We do a lot of research to try and get as accurate as we can. Some species are harder than others but we try.  :)

Love the teeth on the Masiakasaurus' head! Even though he's not a big guy, I wouldn't want to get my fingers anywhere near that! ;)

lol agreed!  Just like the Nothosaurus this guy has some killer dentition.  I know some have reconstructed it with smaller teeth but I think it stands out and will be more memorable to the kids this way too.

This is also the first head I've completely made from a foam board core and then just added apoxie sculpt over.  I'm pretty happy so far with the result. :)

Takama

You sure the foam board will survive the elements?
